If GPU mod is all you require then:

For unlocking other features it is a Work In Progress:

I already know about this mod and already tried it BUT I need a mod which will allow me to use my 525m as a primary GPU. I know that the integrated hd3000 and the 525m are using same framebuffer so the intel card cannot be completely disabled. I think there is already such a mod for Alienware.

BUMP

Hi all,

I am also interested in moding the 5110 Bios... I would like to be able to edit with Nibitor the bios to change the Fan logic and speeds/tresholds.

I was reading and experimenting with the bios as instructed in the long DELL XPS Thread but to no success, Nibitor wont open the dumped .rom with the VGA Bios.

Anyone care to look into this? I can post files sofar.

Using Phoenix tool to DUMP and dumping from the Dell supplied BIOS update.

Thanks

I will pay 5 USD for unlocking hidden menus and 5 USD for UEFI boot. 10 USD for both.

A10 Bios version was released. Unlock this version if possible

Hey, stealthybox here.

I was having trouble with my Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 the other day.
I recently backed up and formatted the harddrive because I was interested in getting a GPT/EFI boot setup on it,
but I hit a wall with my BIOS options and was informed by some Dell reps that the option to boot via any EFI interface has been disabled on this BIOS.

There are SLIC 2.1 modded versions of the N5110 A10 and, I believe, A11 BIOS's out there already, and I've found a few threads on here regarding enabling the hidden options of AMI Aptio Platform BIOS's, so I'm hoping that there's some hope.

If some of you folks could please post some guidance as to the steps I should take/tools I can download, perhaps even explain processes, that would be fantastic and greatly appreciated. I'm well versed in a small list of OOP languages and have a little knowledge in ASM, so code doesn't necessarily frighten me. If this is something I will be able to do myself with the lack of experience I have, I will take the leap, but I won't reject any handouts.

If we get this figured out, I suppose we can move on to adding the already done footwork of adding the SLIC tables, Native SpeedStep, and vBios Support

Goal:

'BIOS' /w UEFI Boot Support
Future Goal:
'BIOS' /w UEFI Boot + SLIC 2.1 + vBios's for those with GPU's

Model:
Dell Inspiron 15R
BIOS Type:
AMI Aptio [UEFI] (FW version unknown?)
Most Recent BIOS Version:
A11 ( Obtainable from N5110A11.exe /writeromfile )

Opens in AMI BCP 4.5 /w Error Code: (editable but cryptic)
Code:
"Some BIOS strings exceeds the maximum length of (0x400). Setup tab and BIOS strings tab will not be shown."

Does not open in AMI BCP 8:
Code:
"No ROM header found."

Opens in MMTool.

Thanks for reading.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Need to unlock advanced menu in DELL N5110 (EFI boot mode on GPT disk)

On this notebook we have Aptio BIOS (latest version on oficial site A11) and this BIOS have no options to boot in EFI mode on GPT disk.

This BIOS work in CSM mode, but need EFI.

Anyone can help to find disabled option in BIOS for a fee?

Sorry for my english.

P.S. Original BIOS (ROM file) attached in thread.
