No way of verification although the fact that the modded file opens up again in the tool is a good sign , but really therse no way to know until you flash it.

what tool for DOS do i use to flash it and how do i make it NOT flash the bootblock?

can i make a bat file or something?

and did you add i7 & i5 support or no? JW

lets get one thing sorted at a time - Ive not done a core i3/i5/i7 mod yet! :S

This is an ami bios so use AMIFLASH or AFUDOS - www.bios-mods.com/tools/

i think the OEM logo will be fixed too becasue itautomatically went to acer logo when the string was changed so changing the string back should fix it

and if the bios work and the string and gateway logo are fixed then ill just leave it

and the i7 mod wont be nessicary

but it would be cool if you could tell me whats supported by lookin in the bios so i dont buy a cpu that wont work

ok, sorry for taking SOOOOOO long.

i've been VERY busy.

i was messing around with the windwos 7 image that came with this computer, there is a tool called: ComputerHardwareIds.exe

it says that it pulls the device metadata and info from the SMBIOS.

i think it's the SMBIOS that got messed with.

you should check the ORIGINAL SMBIOS section and copy and paste what ever is there into the new bios.
