[REQUEST] Lenovo G500(S) (7BCNxxWW) Whitelist Removal
#11
I think I did it, I made a diff of the old (v1.11) bios cracked found here on the forums on the relevant part of it (the one with the Unauthorized Wireless message) and localized the only byte modified (7E to EB, as expected).

I copied like 10 bytes following the 7E and found an exact coincidence on the new one (the 2.02), I changed it to EB and saved the BIOS.

As soon as I test it and it works, I'll upload it here.

EDIT:

Naaaah it was too good to be true.

It still says the wireless card is unauthorized.

Surprisingly, the flashing was done very quickly, and it didn't say that the data was identical either

Oh OK, I thought that if it was the same model there would be no problem, my mistake.

Luckily, reflashing the original one solved the issue

I also have a G500s, and I've just updated the BIOS to 7BCN36WW (2.02) so that the function keys work properly. I too would like to disable the wireless adapter whitelist so I can replace the stock Atheros card with an upgraded Intel card. I don't recall there being a different BIOS for integrated VS discrete video on the Lenovo website. Am I correct in thinking that I should be able to just flash your modded BIOS on my laptop and everything will work? I don't know enough about UEFI to know if doing so will change serial numbers or whatever.

Thanks.

Worked perfectly! Little problem downloading- OpenDNS blocks the download site as [censored] so took me a few minutes to get around that. And after flashing just had to redo the SLIC afterward (lost Windows authentication), but easy to do.

Thank you so muchSmile
