It's that dropbox link in my first post at "actual BIOS backup". Here it is again: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8xb7ktrmmmd0m2....06%29.rom
I used Bios Backup Toolkit v2.0 to extract it, hope it is ok.

I know I haven't contributed much to this community but can someone please help me? Did I not post this correctly? If this doesn't work I am putting my laptop for sale and never touch lenovo again, worst deal of my life.

Thank you very much!

WL removed
Advanced menu unlocked
Bios mod: Ideapad_G580_5ECN96ww_NWL_ADV_cpx

Look README to update. Please post results.

The update was succesfull, got the advanced menu, installed the new wi-fi Intel Advanced-n + Wimax 6250 - the laptop booted normally.

The problem is that the laptop sees all the the wi-fi networks but can't connect to any of them, I've tried installing all sort of drivers from Intel but no luck.
Do you think it has something to do with bios or other issues?
I'm on windows 8.1

Thank you
