[REQUEST] Lenovo G580 (62CNxxWW) Whitelist removal
Thanks, I will gather the file.

Out of interest, surely the Lenovo included flash utility can unlock the chip to flash?

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me with the whitelist. Just got a new wi-fi card to replace an old/overused card and well, you know the story...Upgrading to an Intel 7260 and was a bit peeved to learn of the whitelist.
Lenovo G580 20157.
The results.rar and 62CN97WW.rom file are at the following link. https://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/1wH5...e8jxSd9XyA

Hi BD, thanks for the reply. I was just waiting on the hardware to arrive. I now have both of the components to read and write to the BIOS. I feel I should ask before I do something dumb...Is there a specific ROM/BIN file that I should load to the chip after backing up the *.bin file? This laptop is my main computer and I'd prefer not to wreck it out of my own stupidity. (I have backed up all other data from the hard drive in the event of a worst case scenario)

Use this tool run It as Admin and upload here the result file :

Use AIDA64 tool too (cracked version to get FULL REPORT) and upload a Report too

I need the Full Firmware Dump (read it from your Eeprom Chip) :

--- Flash Devices Found ---
W25Q64BV ID:0xEF4017 Size: 8192KB (65536Kb)

As Bios is only a Region of It and I have to patch all then You will rewrite It back !

Houston we have a problem. I went to read the chip using CH314A Programmer and all hex values are all FF. Is this recoverable? I was not able to recover a bin file.
EDIT #2 : System does not appear to be receiving power. I think I'm SoL.
EDIT #3 : Button battery was loose. Able to get webcam light when turning on laptop. I still feel there may be some vestige of hope.

You have a problem with the Clip probably !
Align all Tools to Pin #1 from Programmer to the Eeprom Chip (foot with ball) on MoBo,
look the red wire (Pin #1 to align too) then check connection into Program and try to
read the chip device (the program has to recognize It) !
Then Read again the chip and if You get all 0xFFh bytes then You are not connected to the
Eeprom Chip !
Then could You explain to me what have You done precisely ?
You have to read and not write so I hope You didn't erased the chip ?
Let me know
Regards

P.S. Here NASA may be I can help U yet Wink

Initially I unplugged the computer, took the case apart, and installed the drivers on a desktop.  I then connected the tools, albeit incorrectly at first (plugged in to the 24xx instead of 25xx, had the clip on backwards) and also had the pins in the 24xx rather than 25xx. When I first got it set up properly, I hit read and it was filled with 0xFF as in the video.
Here is a short video. I know it looks like I am clicking blank, but I did hit read, the framerate is just a tad low. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZnir2dKYGk
Also, here are two images of the tools hooked to the laptop: up http://tau.rghost.ru/7zxbKR8Lv/image.png and http://rghost.net/8rb9BsjZC/image.png
Lastly, I do have the AIDA64 report too, if that is of any use.

EDIT: Those images have the clip on the only winbond chip on the whole board. I would take that to assume that is the correct chip. I feel I should point out that the USB connected to the desktop is not the typical green one, however it looks as though the circuitry is the same, aside from a noticeable difference in placement of the chip, the 24xx/25xx sockets, and subsequent wiring leads. I did use the driver that most people use with the more common USB programmer. I found one or two posts buried on the net saying that they had success.
