Hi,

I have a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop which looks to me like it is soft bricked. When I power it on Power LED, Battery LED are on, Keyboard backlight is on, screen is completely black, the HDD LED is blinking once every 5 seconds.

Unfortunately I have no BIOS backup, or any information on how to recover the UEFI/BIOS

Help greatly appreciated

Ok mate,
I hope It depends by Video Settings so try this :

Littleman

The latest Discovery about Recover Bios after a Black Screen for Video Card :

The simplest solution worked!
For future reference, the trick was to find the right combo of keys:

F2 to boot into BIOS then F9 - ENTER - F10 - ENTER

1. F2 go to Bios
2. F9 follwed by + Enter Key
3. F10 follwed by + Enter Key

Let me know

This does not seem to work.

Note that as I said previously the HDD led is giving a very short blink every 5 seconds, so it is most likely not even getting past the POST where loading the OS should make the HDD LED blink alot more.

I have even tried (I read somewhere on either this or another forum) unplugging Ac, battery and CMOS battery, and both RAM modules, doing a power flee by holding the power button for about 20 seconds and connecting AC and pressing power button to have it go into endless boot cycle (power off and powering on again in a few seconds) where i connected the CMOS battery in the first power off and quickly inserting the RAM module in the next power off....but also didnt help.

This misery happened about a week after warranty expired and after passing airport security....very "funny".

Any further suggestions are very welcome....

I would like to try this out first: https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/...-recovery/

If i only could figure out where to obtain the correct .wph / .rom file and what to name it for my Lenovo Ideapad Y50-70.

Any ideas / clues?

I finally found a working solution:

Downloaded this https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mob...cn31ww.exe
and extracted to a folder with 7Zip and took the WinZIVY2X64.ROM file and copied it to a FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive
with many different names and followed these instructions https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/...19641.html

It all worked - I am writing this post from the recovered laptop Smile
