So this will work when released for a normal y570 w/0 an ssd installed? I installed the 2.06 unlocked bios, and had problems with the wifi disappearing, and the optimus stuff switching on and off. All is normal now atm, thanks to ANYBODY involved with helping with this!

First of all hello to all; I am a new member. I'd like to see that this thread doesn't get buried and perhaps help it along. I am a network engineer who has been building his own computers for 15 years... I finally made the jump to using a laptop as a primary machine. So far, so good, but locked out hardware and hidden setup menus simply won't do!

So, I am humbly requesting unlock or assistance with unlock of the Y470/Y570 2.10 BIOS. I see 2.06 is very much unlocked, but reverting to 2.06 would un-fix all the issues taken care of in 2.10... and you know what they say, if it ain't broke, don't un-fix it! Tongue

For those who would say otherwise, 2.10 is absolutely the official latest BIOS, regardless of what is posted on Lenovo's English support site. My Y570 shipped with 2.10 over 3 months ago. In addition, it's required for the Intel turbo boost to function properly. I was shocked when I read about other owners on older BIOS revisions overheating, dropping frames, having to disable boost or set CPU to 80% in power options, etc... I can say with prime95 confidence that my Y570 is rock solid on 2.10 and always has been.

I have all the files needed to get started. It took some random clicking and a spot of luck to download the official 2.10 file from the Chinese language site, considering I do not read any Chinese xD... I will rehost and link the official files below in their original EXE and also extracted to a zip for convenience, along with a Universal BIOS Backup dump of my Y570's 2.10 .fd file and ACPI tables, for any friendly BIOS expert that wishes to help. Be sure that I will participate actively and provide feedback long after the unlock. I do try not to be a complete leech. Angel

Thanks for taking a moment of your time. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. As you can see I'm just knowledgeable enough to get myself into trouble at this point! Rolleyes

Would love to see a unlocked Bios 2.10 for the Y570 to get WOL working.
Hope someone out there is capable to do that.

Greetings

I second this. My intel card died and I wanted to get a better on instead of using this usb on I got temporarily, but I need the modded bios. Any update on this?

Bump Smile

My previous post (6 posts back) has links to the necessary bios files and a good rw dump. The links are still up, I just checked. I'm looking to put a dual band wireless card in place of the Intel 1000 card, so now I actually have a solid reason to want this bios opened up.

If any experienced Insyde folks could take a crack at it, you'd be a hero to many! I am willing to test any bios modded by another member on my hardware for function & stability before it goes out to the huddled masses. I'm an IT pro; I understand the risk involved and take full responsibility Smile

If no one is available to help I'll probably start reading up again and make an attempt. It's not completely outside my wheelhouse... I have several other projects going at the moment, so time is an issue. If I ever come up with something workable, this thread is the first place I'll put it.

Dave
