[REQUEST] Lenovo Yoga 2.11 whitelist removal
Ok I think I almost got it. I've played around with it quite a bit and I'm finally getting what looks like some data captured. The only problem is that the "detect" button doesn't work and I noticed that the data is different for each Manufacturer and Name.

How could I find the right Manufacturer and Name if the "Detect" button can't find it?

EDIT: I wasn't thinking straight, obviously its on the chip but mine didn't have the name of the manufacturer, only the logo which was a fancy 'G'. Anyway, after searching up what looked like the model number, I confirmed that it is a Giga Device chip. The only problem left is that the exact model number (25LQ64CVIG) isn't listed in the "name" section of the software so I chose the next closest one.

So just to update for any people who might consider trying this in the future:

I finally managed to read the eeprom chip after a lot of struggle (mainly due to my first test clips not staying on the chip). With BDMaster's excellent help, I was able to flash the eeprom chip with no whitelist on. I got excited, hoping that I could finally get an SSD on this thing. Unfortunately, it still does not boot without the original HDD inside.

Initially, I thought that I might have made a mistake and perhaps the whitelist was still on there but the short version is that I bought an Intel WiFi card to replace the current one and the system booted up just fine with the new wifi card and old hard drive. This means that the whitelist is removed, at least what ever code prevented a 3rd party WiFi card from being used. But there still remains something that prevents the HDD from being replaced  Sad .

So tl;dr is if you want to replace the HDD, don't bother but if you just want to replace the WiFi card, then going through the process of removing the whitelist should work.

I bought this a few yours back, but I have an SSD drive in it, are you sure it is whitelisted?
kind of ridiculous I would say?

I run this:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
92CN26WW(V1.06)
12/26/2013

Running the latest Ubuntu 16.04 at the moment.
Here is my disk info:
sudo lshw -class disk
  *-disk
       description: ATA Disk
       product: LITEONIT LCM-256
       physical id: 0.0.0
       bus info: scsi@0:0.0.0
       logical name: /dev/sda
       version: WRDA
       serial: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
       size: 238GiB (256GB)
       capabilities: gpt-1.00 partitioned partitioned:gpt
       configuration: ansiversion=5 guid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx logicalsectorsize=512 sectorsize=512

It's from a Dell laptop I think.

Mayb you can try a downgrade of the bios to see if the disk is not whitelist. the bios has an option to allow a version downgrade.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2.11 (Model 20428) that has only a 2.4GHz WiFi/Bluetooth Card.  I ordered a Dual Band, and it says "Unauthorized Wireless Card Detected - Please Power off and remove it" after POST.  I've seen many articles on Google and here about the white list.  Some flip a bit in the CMOS, which I'd be happier to do than a hard BIOS mod, as it is less risky (can always remove CMOS battery, rather than having to find an ICSP or JTAG my BIOS.  Does anyone know of this tool, where I can download (without the stupid getmyfile.org that makes you fill out surveys and doesn't let you download anyway)?  If you have any ideas, please let me know.  I'm a technically inclined Electronics Engineer, I just don't have the time to play around and mod it myself through trial-and-error.  Lenovo has a later BIOS available, but I won't install until I know (updates usually means they have 'Security' updates), yeah, security against letting me "Choose to do, with MY PROPERTY, whatever I so desire". LoL.  No offense intended, I'm talking Electronics here.

BIOS (Current) Version: AACN94WW ; EC (Current) Version: AAEC94WW

Attached - Extracted installer of latest BIOS update from Lenovo from this model (using Lenovo Service Bridge), no1802 NVRAM fix boot disk(outdated), files "lenovo.bin" and "results.rar" from the tools given to me to dump my ROM.

Thanks,

-Rob
