I would like to be able to install a new wifi card as the old one is not working well at all.
I tried putting in the Intel 7260NGW Dual Band but the whitelist won't allow.
Also, tried to modify and reflash Bios and it won't allow that either.

Hi
Your bios chip is rewrite protected
Bios mod can be flashed using SPI-programmer+SOIC8 clip only

I also got the new AC 7265NGW dual band card and it's not authorized.
I downloaded the latest bios 76CN43WW but it didn't help.
Do I need to provide some data to get the modded BIOS?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dudu,

I have the same issue and after trying to find a solutions for a while now this thread appears to present the only solution

I would be very thankful for a custom bios as well - no clue how to do a BIOS dump however...

I've recently purchased a 7265NWG Wireless card for my trusty Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (seemed more readily available than the 7260NWG) and of course got the "Unauthorized Wireless Card" error, since I wasn't aware of the whole Vendor whitelisting policy due to the FCC.

I've seen from other threads here that the BIOS for each user is somewhat unique due to the embedded Windows key or something, and how many people have to run a utility and post the output, so someone who knows what they're doing here can patch it on their behalf. Can someone still clarify if this is still the way to go, and if so post me links to the current tools to do this (and let me know if they'll work on Windows 10 Home)?

I'm on an old 76CN38WW BIOS. Should I first upgrade to the 76CN43WW? Or is it better to remain on an older version? (i.e. if this "Sleep Bug" that I've read about has been fixed in the newer version). Also do I need to do anything fancy like boot from a Linux live CD to run this hack to enable the advanced BIOS settings, or is that what the whole "sleep bug" was supposed to work around?

If there's anything I should take into account, such as how to restore if i brick my laptop updating the BIOS, would be good to know too.

Advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Smile
Hi
first upgrade to the 76CN43WW
Check your PM

Same here, I've actually purchased 2 7260NGW Wifi cards from 2 separate vendors, one random on ebay and one from a vendor on Amazon who others had success from but both just result in the 'unauthorized card' message.

I have bios version 76CN43WW on my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2.  I'm not sure what utility to use to make a bios dump and flash back.  Advice would be welcome so I can replace this crappy unreliable stock Wifi chip.

Thanks in Advance!
