[REQUEST] Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (76CNxxWW) Whitelist Removal
(07-04-2016, 11:13 AM)Da Vinci Code Wrote: Error 285: Fail to load driver (PCI access for Windows).
Tool needs to run with an administrator priviledge account.
You didnt run this tool as Admin!

Hi Da Vinci ... I definitely did ... is it possible that it is not working with latest FW? Should I flash an older version?

I am using
W10 pro 64 - not the home version,
Firmwre 76CN43WW
anti-virus programm disabled (McAffee)

The attached programm is a compiled version of a batch and different versions of fpt programm. Are the single files available somewhere so that I could test it step by step?

Any idea what I could check?

Thx in advance!

Next step ...

I started W8 Live and dumped the files. I saw write protection error. I found how to activate advanced BIOS menu to deactivate it. So I booted with Linux-Live and tried to modify the /sys/firmware/efi/efivar/SCUShow* file in ghex. Unfortunately I got access denied or such an error even as root.

For now: I attach Bios 31 and 43 dumps without active write protection. I don't know which one can be modified.
Bios Dumps

When I am right files are identical to my previous upload. I used different tools maybe there are futher informations which can be helpful.

In case the dumps are OK how can I deactivate the write protection to be able to flash the "new" firmware?

Thx

You need to use Ubuntu 14.04 http://releases.ubuntu.com/14.04/ to unhide the advanced menu. After you make a backup you can try to modify it using this guide https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...#pid110398 , it worked for me.

Good luck.

Thx, I used Ubunto 16.04 and it didn't work. Using 14.04 solved the problem. Will check the guide .... let's see ...

Update: I could modify bios and re-flash. Now I have to buy a new wifi card to check. In case everything is fine --- thx a lot for your help. When it doesn't work I will bother you again ;-)

Good news ... very likely you don't need any SPI ... just follow that instruction. It is worth to spend a few minutes before buying something.
disable write protection Bios

--> Chapter 2 is the relevant one. When you have no linux installed on your Y2P (what I assume) create an Ubunto boot-usb.

Just consider that ...
- version 16.04 is not working (at least it wasn't for me).
- 14.04 was working smoothly
- create uefi boot sequence otherwise you  will not see the efi-files in your live-ubunto
- tool  for creation ... rufus download

I tried even downgrading back to Windows 8.1 and the tool1.2 and tool1.8 both doesn't detect it's run as Admin, do I need to go back to Windows 7?
