[REQUEST] Please help unlocking HP Insyde BIOS F.65 (HP Pavilion 15 n064so)
#1
Please help me unlock hidden tabs in my BIOS. HP has crippled it completely and there's basically nothing I can modify in there.

Link to BIOS in HP support site: sp66878.exe

Pic of BIOS front page:

Here's the link to all the info I've gathered: Bios.zip

I tried using IDA Pro but couldn't understand how to unlock the tabs.

Please tell me if you need more information. Thank you for trying to help me!

I'd appreciate any help in this situation. I've studied Donovan's blog for days and tried to figure out a way to unlock the hidden tabs. The code in my Bios looks very different than the one in Donovan's tutorial. I found the referenced tab locations but I couldn't find any conditional/unconditional jumps nearby. I'm pretty clueless right now. Huh

I made sure to include the following in that tutorial because I don't want people to try to follow the instructions verbatim. My work is only supposed to give you some kind of refrence to help you along the way. It's the readers responsibility to adapt what I show them to fit their own bios.

Quote:I'll try to keep all my tutorials as generic as possible, but I already know that this will be impossible. Rarely do different BIOS implement these restrictions in the exact same way, so don't expect this to be a surefire way to unlock your hidden tabs. As simple as I make these tutorials seem, it still took me several weeks to get each modification working on my own BIOS.

Yes I read that part and know it's not gonna be as easy as just following the steps you made in the tutorial. I tried to learn what could be the reason that keeps the tabs hidden but since I couldn't figure it out on my own I came here to ask for assistance.

I couldn't find any trace of RSA key being included with this Bios version so it's supposed to be moddable, right?

There is one suspicious file along with the Bios which is "02161.S12" (included in Bios.zip package I uploaded) Could that be the RSA key?

Ok, so it's a dead end then I guess? Sad

No I don't and I'm always willing to try different methods. But I've read people's comments in other threads that there's nothing that can be done at the moment for HP's newer sp6 Bioses until the RSA keys are leaked.

The HP Insyde bios is so useless right now. I bought a new SSD and am about to install Windows in it but the Bios doesn't even let me disable the second HDD and Windows install can really mess up if you have other HDDs connected while installing. Also in my particular laptop model the physical removal of the factory HDD is made pretty troublesome. Basically you have to tear the whole laptop apart.
