[REQUEST] Toshiba Qosmio X505 Q860/Q887 advanced bios mod
#51
Thank you for your effort, but I can't get this to work properly, the laptop locks up during attempts, and the last thing I want to happen is the BIOS getting bricked.
I guess my 15 year old laptop will just have to work as is. It's still a fantastic machine, even though it is outdated by todays standards.
Appreciate all of your help, even though "old technology" just doesn't want to be updated to todays modern times....

Huh. Curious that it would not flash with the "phlash16 /S /X /FORCE [correctBIOSname.WPH]" command. Usually Phoenix BIOS aren't so problematic to flash. Well, best of luck with your machine.

If you are ever looking to breathe more life into a 2006 machine, my first recommendation is always to put a Solid State Drive (SSD) in it (assuming you haven't already). I speak from experience with my previous laptop. It will increase the speed of your notebook by anywhere from 2-10 times when launching applications or booting Windows. Further, when the laptop runs out of RAM (too many open or large open applications), it uses virtual memory on the hard drive. The hard drive is really poor at handling RAM-like functions, however. SSDs run several times faster in this regard.

!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!! Our Ukrainian friends are undergoing atrocities right now and need support. There are two things you can do for starters:

1.) Donate to one of various organizations offering medical, military, and psychological support to those impacted: Support Organizations

2.) Combat misinformation on social media.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.

Today I tested the bios TZ1H_290_modV2. Everything works. I used (win7 64) winphlash64-1.0.49. There is also overclocking but I'm afraid to try it.
