Hello,

I have Sony Vaio VGN-FE31Z.
BIOS ver. R0174J3

My main problem is that my notebook cannot use more than 3GB of RAM. Could You make custom BIOS that supports up to 4GB (2x2GB)

FE31Z is based on Mobile Intel ® 945PM Express Chipset and it can address up to 4GB.

It would be nice also if You make additional advenced options ie. cas latencies, memory speed, cpu speed).

Please provide a link to the BIOS download, you can find this on the manufacturers website, but also the chipset is 4gb maximum but the chipset depending on your graphics card will reserve memory for that and if you use x86 32bit os then you'll only get 3/3.25gb of ram used. what graphics card do you have?

I can`t mod the bios for addressing more that 3GB and memory remap will not fix this as well .
I guess TOLUD register is responsible for this but i haven`t checked for where is this register and how to set it .
I`m sorry for this .

Hi All,
This is my laptop original bios download link form Sony official site.

I am trying to set my DRAM frequency 333 Mhz.
My ChipSet: 945PM, CPU: T7200, RAM is PC2-5300 DDR2 667Mhz.
but CPU-Z says at memory tab; DRAM Frequency 266! and FSBBig GrinRAM 5:8
I need change to FSBBig GrinRAM 1:2..
current system memory clock ratio 1.6 but it must change to 2.0

I hope, if you can unlock this bios then this feature will be enable..
Of course I will accept to new suggestions...

Normally , there no options for overclocking in notebooks as the frequency option only make the notebook unbootable when adjusted .
I will look to see if there are any other options .

Hello again,

after couple of months I'm trying again to gain more than 3GB. I opened my ROM with Phoenix BIOS Editor and I found in Bios Configuration Parameters-System one string called Big Memory Mode. It's value is 00 and description says Memory Report NON-DOS Mode.

Maybe it's responsible for not recognizing more than 3GB of RAM?

Hi,
I need virtualization to be enabled, processor T2300 supports it but sony locked this functionality.
model il VGN-FE28B which has a Mobile Intel 945PM Express chipset, an intel T2300 @1.66, 2GB RAM, and I use an OCZ SSD vertex 2

The first attempt I made was to use SYMCMOS.EXE to manually set bios register
0195 from 0000 to 0001 (as reported in many other forums), without succeding.

Also, I managed to unlock AHCI feature by setting register 0F6 from 0000 to 0001
this worked.

I need VT to run virtual machines (for my bachelors' thesis).

MY REQUEST IS: UNLOCK HIDDEN MENU and/or VIRTUALIZATION

as I saw in the "Sony VAIO VGN-FE44S, FE45G, FE45T, FE47S, FE48G BIOS MOD (Post #8)" thread,
I would like a bios like that (especially the enable/disable Virtualization Technology option)

I attached my present bios which I just backed up with the program in the guide.

ps. (I tried to flash the R0200J3 bios provided in the mentioned thread but since models are different it did not even flashed it)
