[REQUEST] asus rog strix scar 2 - bios 309,310 locking undervolt issue
#11
@Kay123

1.
Don't think too much ,you can complete the benchmark test in cinebench r20 and keep only 93 degree ,i feel it's already work well.
If there isn't -105mv undervolt ,i think it will easily arrive to 100 degree then trigger PROCHOT or other cpu protection ,then the cpu freq will go down the benchmark score will bad then . So , i think under the normal condition ,it's impossible always so high loading at 24 hours ,so 60~70 degree should is an accept region under normal use. All after ,i7-10750H is a 14nm processor.

2. Tune "Core Voltage Offset' in the bios is applies voltage to CPU Core ,instead of CPU Cache.

Whatever value I set in core voltage offset in bios it applies to both, cpu core and cpu cache. I confirmed this through throttlestop and xtu.

People have received better results with undervolting the cpu core more than the cpu cache. For example cpu core at-130mv and cpu cache -75mv. Cpu cache holds back how much u can undervolt the core so that's why cpu cache undervolt is kept low.

2. Only suggest you do cpu undervolt by Throttlestop or Intel XTU at ASUS 8th or 9th gen laptop ,don't directly tune it in the bios. Because it might cause the undervolt crash ,the information were from many user's feedback.

3. As long as you follow my instruction to install modded ,100% can successful re-flash the mod.

=========
Mod was done.
Hello Bro, Finally i have done the flash as per your instruction. I am seeing additional configurations in my bios now. However, there are still issue of them getting activated. I did 2 changes. 1. set my intel xtu value to enabled but it did not unlock xtu or throttlestop for undervolting. 2. I wanted to set xmp profile 2 since i have 3200mhz ram which is mapped to xmp profile but under memory overclocking settings it has only xmp profile-1. There is no xmp profile-2. Can you give idea how or why i am having this problem? I tried to save each settings seperately then again go back and check them. They are correctly set everytime i check in bios. enclosing the new dump also for you reference. I followed your flashing steps exactly and this is the resulting rom file.

I sent you a mod at 08/28/21 ,then you just now respond the post at 10/22 ,didn't you feel it's too late?? Are you very busy??

1. See #2 to activate Throttlestop.

2. Why you can see only one xmp profile in the bios? The reason is very simple ,your memory module only stored one set xmp profile in spd ,so bios only can read one. If memory didn't support xmp feature , you can't see and choose any profile in the bios.

Hello bro. Apologies on delay. I have new work so tight learning curve these two months. Now only got some time to start back gaming. But i definitely wanted to get back and update you on the status after flashing. So its fine bro.

Like you said i missed on disabling cfg,overclocking locks, overlooked it sorry. once done laptop undervolting is working perfectly. I thank you for reverting this stupid locking and hidden menus stoping laptop functioning fully capacity. Thanks.

As for the point 2 after you explained i went into bios and checked. The listing on the top show it has default,xmp1,xmp2 however when we come down to the section where dropdown is to choos the profile, it has default, custom profile, xmp profile 1. So my understanding was xmp profile 2 is hidden. please help to clarify on that. Also i captured the snap from my cpu-z which shows the ram i use is 3200hz and the profile is mapped to xmp-2. even if i select say xmp profile 1 the timings are getting better but the mhz is stuck at 2666mhz. PFB - screenshots for your reference. Please provide some ideas bro. Any workarounds to make it work at 3200Mhz.

The same response again ,i still think this memory module has only one xmp profile ,because of bios can only read one set. It's xmp 2.0 technology ,not means xmp profile2 ,please carely see cpu-z again.
Now that even if you load xmp profile1 ,but it still only run at 2666mhz ,why don'y attempt to tune parameter manually?? Xmp profile are only stored memory optimize parameters from official ,when load it then they will be applied to every parameters. But you still can tune them manually one by one if the xmp profile is unavailable.

I'm not a laptop user ,so i will suggest you start at the memory freq.
1. Set memory profile = Custom profile ,then try to changes Memory Reference Clock and Memory Ratio to change memory freq.
For example ,when Memory Ratio=11 ,then you will get (133x11)x2=2933mhz.

Tuen other parameters at your own risk.

2. If you don't understand how to clear cmos on this machine ,don't do a over bios configuration ,or you will mess the laptop up ,then get a black screen.

Ok bro. Got you idea. I think i will try it. I will do little bit of reading how to do it like you suggested. Thanks for idea.
