Recovering From A Bad Award Bios Flash

yes, I will try when I'll come back home: just 2 question:

- will it work from a usb flash support (it's the same that I use to flash the bios)?

- when I write these 2 strings in the auotexec file:

@ECHO OFF
@AWDFLASH BIOSFILE.BIN /cc /py /sn /r

must I write with or without "@"?

thanks

I tried following this guide

http://www.biosmods.com/recovery.html

but no way. my pc do anything

Than I could try with a floppy (maybe the usb don't work), but on a floppty there is no enough space for the boot file and the bios (apx 1mb), so could I do?

try this

http://www.techsp.net/Files/drdflash.exe

insert floppy. execute file. copy over bios files.

ok, with that file I could format the floppy and put inside awdflash and the bios file, but nothing; when I boot on the pc there is a spin from the floppy drive, but after that anything.
just one thing: the bios that causes me all this problem was the original bios modifed with the guide that I found on this forum; when I save the file I re-open with modbin6, and all ok: than I flash and it seems ok, but when the flashing process was complete and on screen appear "press F1 to reboot", I did it and from taht momento my pc stop working.

Well, it means something obviously was not saved right. This BIOS is a SAMPLE, it is not meant to be flashed as it is way out of date. If you read the blog, or the Nettle2 thread, you would see we have an unlocked retail ABIT award bios working flawlessly. At this point, if you want your board fixed, head over to chip reprogramming page up top.

you could try this

Steps:
1 - Copy the BIOS file to root of a USB stick, or floppy as AMIBOOT.ROM (all UPPER case).

2 - Start with power off on the target machine.

3 - Insert the USB stick.

4 - Hold down the Ctrl and Home keys and turn on power.

5 - Watch for the USB stick light, or floppy light to blink (based on media used), and immediately release the keys.
This may take approximately 15 to 20 seconds.

6 - The display will come to life with the AMI BIOS Recovery utility, and will
report it's progress (with periods ....).

firt of all, thanks to everyone for your support Smile

now....I don't understand, sorry.

these are the files actually inside my usb pen drive

[Image: th_20100404162449_Immagine.JPG]

so I simply would rename the bios file as banana19 told me (and obvisouly modify the string inside the autoexec. bat with the new name) and try his way tha describes upper or what? beacuse in your last point "6" you told about a "ami bios recovery utility", but my bios is a award!

X 1234s282: where I can find that utility from abit? it sould work better than awdflash?

i was hoping you bad flashed the biostar bios. it has a bios relife utility built in. i think its still crtl and home. If not its time to send in the bios chip or hot flash.

you flashed a mini-itx board... not good. I feel for you, but it may be time for a new board.
