#61
(09-19-2011, 12:58 PM)xkonni Wrote: hey camiloml,

thanks for the support in this thread Wink

i'd like to replace my wlan card and would really appreciate if you could mod a bios file for me.

Model: Thinkpad Edge13 (Type 0196-5PG)
BIOS Type Tonguehoenix
BIOS Version: 6YET36WW (1.19 )
BIOS Download Link: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj10us.exe

Current card:
03:00.0 0280: 8086:0084
Subsystem: 8086:1315

New card: (though whitelist removal would be even better)
04:00.0 0280: 8086:4232
Subsystem: 8086:1321

thanks a lot for your time!

Sad i still get the 1802 error Sad

Hmmmm well this is really strange, how can it be xxkoni have whitelist removed and you don't if the bios file is the same???

Only one answer come to my mind, by any reason you are not flashing the modded bios correctly.

Sad

ya thats what i would have thought as well.
but when i try flashing i dont see any errors in the phlash text file that it creates, and it also creates a winuptp text file which says that it flashed the bios OK.
i am running cmd as administrator and i tried the latest one you provided with both the /s and -s switch. Sad

edit:

i see in earlier posts things like this:

Bios files:
- BIOS $0A6Z000_mod_SLIC.ROM for 6Zxxxxxx-based computer
- BIOS $0A6Y000_mod_SLIC.ROM for 6Yxxxxxx-based computer

Upon opening the WinPhlash (32 or 64 bit), click "Browse", choose the biosmod for your model, click "Advanced Settings" then check and uncheck the boxes so it looks like this:

("Flags" Tab):
[ ] Verify BIOS part number
[ ] Flash only if BIOS version is different
[ ] Flash only if BIOS version is newer
[ ] Verify BIOS image size
[ ] Verify BIOS checksum
[ ] Zero block before erasing
[x] Verify block after programming
[x] Disable Axx swaping automatic detection (if present)
[ ] Clear CMOS Checksum

("DMI" tab)
"Update": Select "Update the BIOS and not DMI"

when i run the winphlash program by itself, it tries to flash the bios with flashabl.rom
i tried browsing for a different one but i dont see any .rom files listed. just .fl1 files
is this an issue?

when i check the winuptp text file it says:

System BIOS version -> 6ZET37WW

...but i went to lenovo's page for my model (0197) and got the latest bios and updated it before i even posted here. and that bios is here:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj10us.exe

so i'm confused.. :S

I will make .ROM version for you to try with winphlash and that steps you posted.
Look in bios setup to see if it shows you the correct bios version A6Z..... or A6y..... i don't want to brick your laptop Smile
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj09us.exe

Try to flash this one.

And then try to flash again moded bios with the package you downloaded from my folder.

ok so when i went into my bios setup under 'BIOS Version' it said 1.24 (6ZET37WW)

so i used the .exe from lenovo and it downgraded me in the bios setup to 1.23 (6ZET36WW)

i dont see an A6Z or A6Y anywhere excent in the phlash.txt file that is created from lenovo's downgrade. it mentions 0A6Z...fl1

so i tried the bios in your folder with my name on it again.
in the winuptp.txt file it says it went from 6ZET36WW to 6ZET37WW.
when i restart and go into the bios setup it now says 1.24 and (6ZET37WW) again.

but i'm still getting the 1802 error. Sad

just to be safe, i tried removing the original wireless card and installing the new one in its place, but i still get the 1802 error. Sad

edit: there is a second mini pci-e slot in my model and i am trying to install a second, better card into it. not actually replace my existing one.
i dont know if this makes a difference really.

Hmmm, don't think so, just tell me the ID of the card that works ok on the laptop please. There's two bios versions in the 6yuj10us pack, and it seems the 0A6Z... is not patched well and the other 0A6Y yes, and that's why it worked for other mates on the forum. so tell me the pci id of your card please.
