[Request] Bios upgrade of an HP Elitedesk 800 G4 mini to support i7 9700T
#11
Bad news. Try with shorter length:
fptw64 -a 0x1CE3000 -l 0x49000 -d ucode.bin
fptw64 -a 0x1CE3000 -l 0x49000 -f ucode.bin

Same output Sad

Does that mean we need to resort to hardware jumpers or physical bios access?

Yes, you are right.

If I manage to do it would you be able to further assist me?
I mean, its useless to try and crack it open if I don't have a working firmware to install in the first place LOL
I'm researching this unlocking paths, any tips or links?

Find the way to flash by fptw64 or make BIOS dump by a hardware programmer.

Done!
Anyone needing to dump the flash contents from an HP Elitedesk 800 G4 mini read this...
You will need to de-solder the chip if using cheap ch341 adapter. Using a clip wont do it.
Probably it has to power a lot more than the flash chip and will brown out, disconnecting the adapter.
Not sure about more capable equipment but the cheap ones wont read it.
Anyway, here is the attached dump

But your file (dump0.bin) has size 16 777 216 bytes.
So it's not created by a hardware programmer.

I have 3 identical ones. Same md5sum. And yes, created with a ch341a with an unsoldered chip.
I'll try to use another software... maybe flashrom is not getting the size correctly.. (It says it could not find the model but basic operations should work).

Well, that is weird...

The Bios I have is a Gigadevice 25B127DSIG which is in fact a 16MB
Using Neoprogrammer I have the same 16MB file, same md5sum as with flashrom.
How come the intel tool was showing 32MB?

oh...

I think I know where this comes from. There is another chip ?
Winbond 25Q256JVFQ
Does it mean I have 2 bios?
What should I do now?
