[Request-Camilo] Sony Vaio SA/SB/SC/SD/SE series R2085H4 Advanced Menu + Sata 3? Plz
#1
Wink
Hello Camilo,

The "Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD/SE Series Owners' Thread " from the Notebook Review website really appreciate your help and posting of the BIOS with advanced menu.

In October, you unlocked R2048H4 [Unlocked] Sony Vaio SA Bios R2048H4 Advanced Menu

Well, Last month Sony Released R2085H4 for its SA series. I wanted to know if you could give us that with the unlocked option. BIOS is HERE R2085H4

Hi, I didn't post screenshots as they look exactly like the ones already present in the old thread. The person there posted those. Except for the version number of the Bios (R2085H4 ) everything looks exactly the same.

Most importantly, I as well as all Owners of the SA/SB series would truly appreciate if you could somehow use the Original BIOS R1031H4 (which Had SATA 3 capability) and somehow keep that option and put it into the NEW R2085H4 with advanced menu. We need the newer BIOS because Sony has fixed various issues of the notebook (battery, sleep, fan noise, etc..) I really hope you can find out how to enable the SATA 3 feature that was in the old BIOS and put it an an unlocked newer R2085H4 BIOS with advanced menu.

If you cannot put the SATA 3 in the Newer BIOS, Just the Unlocked Advanced menu would be great! I just hope you can find the code for sata 3 in older bios and transfer it into the newer BIOS.

MANY Many Thanks in advance. I as well as many Vaio owners will appreciate your help and gladly donate. Thank you

Oozi

EDIT:: 12/06/11

BIOS modder Camilo has given us the Latest Sony Vaio SA Series BIOS R2085H4 with advanced menu Support which Lets you enable AHCI mode, and MANY MANY other New bios features.
Works with all SB/SA/SC/SD/SE Vaio series.

***HE is still trying to enable SATA 3 in NEW BIOS with Advanced Menu support**

Intel Rapid Storage now says "Your system is configured to enable advanced SATA features for optimal power management and increased storage performance." Before the standard BIOS was set to RAID and Intel Rapid Storage did NOT say drive was set for increased performance

The R2085H4 file in the first post is actually the R1031H4 (both files are the same, I guess the OP made a mistake). This is the correct file:

Its still the same as the screens I posted here: http://imgur.com/a/FnmqM

After dumping the setup menu myself, there is definitely no offsets referred to there that mention sata speed, so I doubt there is any easy "change a certain offset with a hax editor" type fix for this one.
one thing to look at would be the bios updater - it has options for only updating certain sections. The fixes in the newer bios are likely to be DSDT and other ACPI tables, which as far as I am aware could not disable SATA3. However, I do not know enough about EFI bios structure to attempt to break the bios down and locate the desirable sections.

I downloaded the earlier unlocked bios.. What tool should I use to flash it? It says I'm on the current version and no update is needed.. Just want to unlock it. I'm a little concerned with my SA290x. The ram:fsb multiplier is 1:5. In windows benchmark, my RAM is the lowest result around 4.1!!!! Is it possible to fix my ram speed? Any idea why this would be happening? I've just got the 4gb and an emtpy sodimm slot. Going to install another 4gb in this week to see if it fixes it.
