Thanks for these unlocked bioses. I have the 17r SE 7720 with the 3630QM. Will these work for me? I have read in other places that these will not work with the 3630QM. Would you be willing to make one compatible with the 3630QM? Your consideration is very much appreciated.

@Oleh - I have that very same question. There are many of us out there with that same processor. You obviously have the expertise, how could I help you with modding a bios compatible with the 3630QM?

I have the same question has the previous 2 user. I read some report of faillure with newer cpu. I don't get why since the mobo should be the same. Anyway, does it work on newer 3630qm?

[edit]

I've resolved my issues now. I downloaded the latest bios mod that Oleh uploaded and had success...

For anyone else who reads this in future, My previous bios version was the official A16. I have a *i7-3610QM* (plus Win7 64bit, though I'm not sure if that matters)! Many people are having issues trying to use this mod on their 3630QMs. Going by what I have heard; I would *not* recommend using this mod on a laptop that has the 3630QM!

For anyone who has a 3610QM and wants to give this a go... You can ignore the guide in the sticky on this forum as it seems to flash with a different approach. I just opened up Oleh's package and used the usb boot tool contained there, dropped the 4 other files onto the usb too (there was 7 in total if since I'd installed the dos boot thingimajig). Loaded up the USB on a reboot and typed "flash" and sat back and watched it do it's thing (while praying a little). After a minute or so of several progress meters it said it was complete. I now have a *TON* of extra bios options (some are obviously not for the hardware I have).

Again I must reiterate what is said on this forum again and again, no one else can be responsible if you brick your bios except you. I'm just letting you know that this worked for me, with my setup.

Thanks for your work Oleh.

There were two reasons I wanted full access to this bios... One was to have more control over the fans which I now have. The other was to try to turn on Intel Quick Sync... I'm trying to work out what everything does and if this is possible on this laptop. I'm not sure if the correct Intel drivers are installed for this to work or not. If anyone has any info around this then it'd be a ton of help!

Hello,

I would really appreciate it if a 3630QM compatible A16 unlocked BIOS mod could be made. Mainly I wish to disable hyperthreading, but it would be cool to have access to all the options anyway.

Is anyone still modding these? I won't risk bricking my laptop with the 3610QM modded bios. Hard to afford a replacement!

Hi!

I'd really like to try this BIOS, mainly to get control of the fans. But I'm afraid of bricking my laptop, so i'm trying to understand what my options would be if something went wrong.

Would the method described in this post allow me to fix a hypothetical brick? Or that method: http://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/p...-recovery/ ?

Are these methods "guaranteed" to work or could it go horribly wrong with no way to solve the problem?

And is there a way to test the BIOS on my computer without flashing it to be sure that it will work? I've seen a few people complaining that their laptop got bricked after a reboot, so I'd like to know what's possible. Sorry for being a noob, and thanks! ^^
