[Request] I'm looking for assistance with a Toshiba L775D (psk40u aka psk40v)
#1
Question
I also have this posted on MDL, hence the format.

I hope someone here can help me out and point me in the right direction. I'm trying to replace the wireless card in a Toshiba laptop. Unlike another model I did about a year ago (L675D-S7049), I can't find the whitelist in the BIOS to replace one of the entries with the info from the new card. To make things more difficult hot swapping doesn't work (I've also tried it with other cards in other Toshiba laptops). The BIOS I modded previously only needed the vendor and device ID, so maybe not being able to hot swap isn't that much of a pain. Another thing is the website only lists BIOS version 1.40 (and 1.30), but the laptop came with 1.50 from the factory. So I've provided a link to a backup made using the Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit.

Manufacturer: Toshiba
Motherboard Model: L775D-7108
Bios revision: 1.50
BIOS Type: EFI / Insyde BIOS
BIOS Download Link (version 1.50): http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/...40v150.exe
Current/original card : PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_818110EC&REV_01
Card to be added: Intel 6230 two possible IDs - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091 and &DEV_0090

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I had the opportunity to verify the card does work in a Toshiba A105, so the card itself isn't defective. This also allowed me to get the device ID info I didn't have (below). This might require using a decompiler and someone who knows assembler to look through things. By the way, the laptop I mentioned modding previously also had the same symptom of being able to turn-on, but not POSTing when an unrecognized card was inserted.

Card to be added: Intel 6230 - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091&SUBSYS_52018086

Thanks again to anyone who can help.
