Just goto amd and select detect your devices your laptop will automaticly get 12.3 CCC. Switchable graphics and dynamic mode are only for intel/AMD mixes. As there are issues in games not detecting the discret. and only using the intergrated hd3000 from intel. AMD/AMD uses AMD's power play express which is a pure CCC switch. I am running 12.4 CCC beta. And there is no difference to performance as the tri core is a bottleneck along with your 5470m which is no different then my 6370m. And even if you did update you 5470m it runs on the exact same drivers your 4250 does. When you get 12.3 your GPU's will get renamed as generic hd4200 series and hd5400 series. Trust me you wont see any differace in gaming performance if this is what your looking for. i have the exact same laptop but i have the 6370m which is a renamed 5470m

would my switchable graphics be the reason ccc will not open in the 12.3

What is your issue with 12.3 CCC exactly? CCC runs powerplayexpress on AMD/AMD setups. its in the bottom under power or right click the CCC icon in your toolbar. I need to know more details to understand what your saying 12.3 wont open.

Also curious why you need openGL on your discrete?

And there is nothing wrong with dynamic switchable graphics just means you can switch between GPU's without requiring a reboot of your PC everytime you want to switch GPU's

Intel intergrated GPU/AMD discrete GPU = Switchable graphics this has issues in game detecting the right GPU

AMD intergrated GPU/ AMD discrete GPU = AMD power play express Has no issues. And is fully controlled with in CCC. Setting to power saving GPU uses the IGPU 4250, setting to high performance GPU uses the discrete 5470

CCC switches it in CCC

Now if your having issues installing CCC 12.3 try this.
1: Uninstall current CCC
2: open device manager uninstall the 4250 and 5470 from there
3: reboot this will reinstall the default drivers no CCC
4: reboot again
5: Goto AMD site select autodetect and let that install CCC 12.3 This should get you the catalyst mobilty utility x64
6: install what autodetect gives you.
7: enjoy CCC 12.3

ccc is not even installed. will try your method and see if it installs and as far as opengl is for games and i was under the assumption through reading that it did not work with switchable graphics

OpenGL in a game? What game you trying to play there is not but a very few OpenGL driven games. Almost all games are DX format. OpenGL is more related to heavy graphics processing photoshoping stuff like that anymore. Find me a openGL driven game. I have ran extreme burn in's on my 6370m which is your DGPU renamed and have had no issues burning in OpenGL 2-3.

No drive sweeper will cause issues and then you will be reformatting win7 lol. Drivesweepers and AMD driver do not play well together. Just remove anything AMD unistall the catalyst manager then search for any AMD files folders hanging around. but make sure you uninstall your drivers off the 4250/5470 through device manager then reboot this will make sure you get the default drivers back

ok did what you suggested and ccc still did not install. i tried going to
C:\AMD\Support\12-3_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc\Packages\Apps\CCC2\Utility
and manually installing it and it seems to install but still no ccc
