[Test] Asrock N68C-S UCC
#11
So you can select IDE or Raid mode but can't select Native mode?

Lol that's really strange.

Hi there!

I have the very same problem with this board. I was happy to find this forum and this thread. First I have to thank you camiloml for putting so much effort into this.

I tried the ROM from your last post, but it did not work out as expected. The help text shows the three options "IDE, RAID, Native Mode". When pressing Enter, the popup-menu also shows those three entries. If you select either "IDE" or "RAID", the selected item remains. If you select "Native Mode", the selection instantly changes to "RAID". If you try it with "+" and "-", you can only toggle between "IDE" and "RAID".

It is basically the same as McCsaplak described before, but it might be important to hear it from a second desperate user ;-)

I hope you will be able to fix this eventually.

hmmmm, that gives me a clue, maybe the mask does not allow the third value. will check it later.

I just found out that if "RAID" is selected and you press "+" nothing happens. Maybe it internally switches to "Native Mode" and instantly back again.

Hi there,

A few days ago, I requested a Bios-extension using "the official way". I contacted the Asrock support and wrote the following:

Quote:Is there a way you could extend the bios firmware to also support AHCI instead of IDE for the SATA controller? I am about to buy a SSD and this requires to have the SATA-Controller to operate in AHCI mode for optimal performance. I know that it is theoretically possible to enable AHCI implicitly by using the RAID controller, but practically (at least for this board) you cannot use the RAID controller without actually creating RAID arrays.

Today I got this answer:

Quote:Hello,

Sorry, this NVidia chipset SATA controller did not support AHCI at all.

Best regards,

ASRock Support

The chipset of this board is GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a. Is he right? In this context I am interested in the difference between "AHCI" and "Native mode"? Specifically I would like to know what exactly it is you are about to unlock by providing us the option "Native mode"?

That's just a text string, nothing related the operational mode. There's no AHCI string in the bios so i have chosen that one for the new option.

OK I understand. But you do know/believe, that the board's chipset supports AHCI mode? If that is the case, why would Asrock lie to us?

I'm sorry to bug you with such questions. But I believe that certainty in this point would save all of us lots of time.

Tell them to check against this one the AHCI chipset support Smile

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2...ifications

This has same chipset and supports AHCI in bios without any kind of mod Wink In the "configure sata operation mode" options are IDE, RAID, AHCI.

And i think these are the AHCI drivers http://file.abit.com.tw/pub/download/dri...101012.zip

Well, if the chipset supports it and they claim it doesn't, they probably don't want to activate it in their firmware. Well I guess in this case, I will have to wait for your next modded release.

Ah, before I forget, I will certainly donate something to you if it works Wink
