(UEFI) Dell XPS 15z L511z modded BIOS - and HOWTO
sorry i didn't come here for weeks, what's wrong with @kasar? need some donates on paypal: capitankasar@hotmail.com?

@jkbuha, thank you! i'v seen bcc9's posts before but didn't try anything - -# i'll try it later coz i'm really busy these days and haven't see your in-time reply, sorry!

(11-14-2012, 08:36 AM)jkbuha Wrote: Hey marstone - my pm's aren't working well. Re: Intel connectors I had published a long (and painful) series of posts on insanelymac and tonymac on the issues with the connector table. Eventually my problem was resolved with an EDID override for my laptop screen. But bcc9 did an even better job than I did on patching the connector tables for OSX and wrote a whole topic on insanely mac. Just have a look and let me know if you need any help Smile

Do we have any updates on unlocking the firmware descriptor region for ME? Having seen where all the developments are going this seems to be the lead with most potential. There definitely is a way of doing so (Dell does it, apparently so does Winflash) - so what should we be looking out for?

And after they check my laptop..i smell somethin burning from my laptop.. So scamming is an option??

@mizyshamirul

so, I asume the cdrom image I gave you didnt worked, huh? :o

about the burning chipset, it sounds unbeliable by just flashing a bios.

well, it could be posible with a highly voltage modded BIOS with burned the chipset with extremly high voltage, but I dont think this is the case because jkbuha BIOS was even GPU undervolted.

@marstone

well, jkbuha started a pledge in order to help me to fix my motherboard wich resulted damaged while doing some advanced firmware experiments.

yeah, that is my paypal account, I apreciate you interest in helping me Smile

mizy - i have never heard of any bios being burnt by flashing, not even if they are not for the designated machine.
im not sure what burning smell you have heard but it is almost definitely not the bios or chipset

just out of interest, when did you buy your dell xps 15z?

@all
Hey, any news in the world of exploiting?
@kasar you got your chips delivered yet?

@jkbuha I have yet to receive the "refund" from pledgie, the money was never marked as being refunded and my bank statement doesn't list the return operation. So it must have gone to your paypal account OO

give it a while mate don't worry - it approx takes 7 days from the date of your transfer. either way please let me know so i'll chase it with paypal/pledgie myself if necessary.

re: exploiting i'm still looking at ME firmware patching as it seems the only route for now. i'm also looking to see whether we can use clover for undervolting/overclocking (clover menu seems to support both, and initial booting into osx seems encouraging) but clover is b****y unstable and inconsistent at least as far as it works on my dell. also i cannot boot into uefi for win8 or linux. still it's a great experimental step in the right direction. any luck yourself?
