[Unlocked] A08 w/ Unlocked Options & 580M GPU Thermal Throttle Removal
#1
I will personally donate $50 to anyone who can provide this in 100% working form.
I have a pledge from DarioG and Aoyarvide from NoteBookReview for $15 and $20 respectively

The unlocked options have already been done on almost every BIOS revision so that should NOT be an issue.

A04 does NOT thermal throttle, anything higher than that does throttle the 580M.

Here is the A08 BIOS http://support.dell.com/support/download...eid=468907

And here is the A04 bios: http://support.dell.com/support/download...id=R301186

The reason it must be done on A08 is it is the latest and supports the newer Sandy Bridge CPU's that are coming out as well as supports 3D on the 3D Alienware systems.

Anyone that knows me knows that I will honor my word. This whole thermal issue is really getting to me and someone can at least make a couple bucks in the process.

Hi
I would pledge $15 via Paypal. I have the 17x r3 580m and currently on the A04 bios, but would like to use the A08 bios without the dell throttle!!
My GPU 580m hw id is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1211&SUBSYS_04BA1028&REV_A1

I was going to pledge a donation as well but instead I just sent you 30 EUR as I would like to contribute regardless, for the effort if you will.

Hopefully this can be done.

Thanks.

HI ,

Here is the modified A08 BIOS with unlocked setup utility and modified thermal throttle for the GPU .

http://www.mediafire.com/?ijjt37iptcz5f3z

- i`m sure that the setup utility is unlocked in this bios but the thermal throttle needs testing and reporting from users like you Big Grin

-THANKS FOR YOU GANDALFTW AND I WILL REFUND THE DONATION FOR YOU IF FOUND THAT I CAN`T FIX THIS OR THE PROBLEM WASN`T FIXED Smile

Throttle has been removed and the BIOS options are unlocked but 3D support has gone away.

NVIDIA doesn't detect this set up as 3D anymore, flashed back to stock A08 and it works again....Weird, I wonder what caused this ???

I have modified a lot of modules in the A08 modified bios. And may be i have removed 3D support by mistake,,,,,,,,,,but its good that throttle was successfully removed and i will mod it again and i will make sure not to remove the 3D support .

Hi

when the bios is loaded and reboots I noticed it took ages to get to load the alienware bios alien head just before your able to get into bios by pressing f2. I have switched off laptop, and same problem, blank screen when press power and takes ages to see alien head load screen and f2 option! any idea why?
i also ran furmark at stock gpu clock and blue screens at 75 degrees, is this normal?

It didn't blue screen for me, it just throttled down.

Also, I had the same issue. It took a good 20-30 seconds to get to the alienhead screen, however, if it works, in the end it is worth it. Not sure what is causing the long bootup though.
