[Unlocked] M4A78LT-M(cm1630)--Unlocked retail ROM for OEM ASUS Essentio CM1630
#11
Made a fix for Windows Activation and have uploaded the modded ROM--I will go back and will replace the original post's file too. Basically, I had to change the SLIC info on the modded retail ROM so that the Windows version still thinks that the firmware and board is OEM, which will in turn keep the OEM version of Windows Activated. Sorry about that, didn't think about having to fool Windows Activation when I changed the ROM over.

I just reflashed my board with this one and my Windows is activated once again, and I still have all the retail features unlocked Smile

Was able to overclock from 2.8 to 3.64ghz after this and it's runnin' fine except for the fact that I can't get a temperature reading from the processor: doh! Any ideas?

Using amd overdrive utility

NO temp:

Were you able to get the core temps via AMD OverDrive before the overclock? If so, I had the same issue when I would raise the FSB speed a lot, but I began underclocking other settings that were also scaling with the FSB and it began to give a proper CPU core temp reading again--but this is just an assumption as to what fixed the issue, I started tweaking other settings quite a bit when it began to stop giving core temps. I would try underclocking other components affected by the raised FSB so that they scale closer to their stock speed and see if that helps at all.

Another tool that I used to monitor cpu temp is ASUS PC Probe II.

NO temp:

Download Asus' AI Suite that comes with the retail board, it will show you the temp. I put my fsb to 250 giving me 3500mhz. Ran prime for 20 min and temp never went over 51C.

Today I booted up and its running fine at 2.8 Ghz, even tho none of my BIOS settings changed. Can't get it to OC nomatter what I set it to.
Maybe a reflash would help.
I've also had another issue, even before running the bios mod, everytime on bootup, it posts New CPU detected! Ive googled it but found little in answer other than to turn of Halt on F1 setting in BIOS.
Anyway, hope AI Suite works for you.

Have you tried unplugging the computer and removing the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes to reset the CMOS?

Thanks! Not only does asus pc probe work 100% it looks dang amazing as well and adds some eye candy to my desktop. This must've been a driver issue with 'Overdrive'. My basement is very COLD so i'm not worried about temperature but it's nice to know that I'm for sure NOT going nuclear. I'm really enjoying how asus dishes out a PC.

All I can do for you is confirm this: I have the M4A78LT-M motherboard with a phenom II x4 830 and I've successfully overclocked the cpu by setting the fsb to 260 and it's stayed like it's set. I haven't done much to stress test besides playing a couple rounds of COD: Black Ops and some video encoding.

My issue was software related. I installed all the Asus utilities that came with the retail board..., epu-4, aisuite, turbo key. Some settings were throwing off my Bios settings and causing the grief. I'm about 5 years behind the technology curve and need to google some of these new bios functions.

Back at 3.5Ghz stable (not interested in pushing it higher). Thanks again SV. Smile

SLIC has been updated on this retail BIOS to appear as OEM so that the OEM ASUS Windows 7 version stays activated.
**

Mobo: M4A78LT-M(CM1630)--Essentio CM1630 Desktop

Attached is a modified ROM, originally intended for the retail M4A78LT-M mobo, which has been modified so that its ROM ID and Model match that used on the OEM release, allowing it to be flashed to the OEM mobo. This modified bios will enable features that were stripped from the OEM Bios on the M4A78LT-M(CM1630) mobo. The modified bios is version M4A78LT-M-ASUS-0802.

This ROM will enable the following options in the Bios, previously stripped from the OEM version: JumperFree Configuration, CPU Configuration (core unlocker/unleash), NorthBridge Configuration, Memory Configuration, ECC Configuration, APM Configuration, HW Monitor Configuration, and ASUS O.C. Profile.

Flash at your own risk.

Hey Do you think this will work for the cg1330-07 same board but I have a x6 1045t?

Thanks
