abit ip-35e bios unlock for ahci to work

Latest Bios is here :
http://www.file-upload.net/download-3287...3.bin.html

It would be great to have AHCI enabled with this board.

Hi,
this should be possible, but I didn't find any time to do it yet. I will have to boot windows for that because modbin6-2.04.02 runs in win32 - not DOS mode, as 2.01 does - and wine/linux doesn't handle the font colors correctly in modbin.. blahblah Tongue

Luckily, I'll have to shut down my computer (instead of standby) to re-attach a more or less fallen off heat sink on one of my graphics card's RAM chips Big Grin, so I can boot windows after that, do the mod and hope it works for you. Of course you could do it on your own, it isn't that hard..

cheers

------
EDIT:

Hm. For some reason there is no option for the Onboard SATA Mode listed in the BIOS setup when I open your BIOS in modbin6. This is how it looks like on an IP35-E BIOS:

But the subentry "OnChip SAT"(A Mode) is simply gone in your BIOS ROM. There could be another way to do this, as the chipset (ICH9) definitely supports AHCI. Maybe it's just hidden and one could make it visible if he knows how to do so. Or you need in-depth knowledge of crazy haxor skills, which I sadly don't have Dodgy
If we're lucky, someone writes coreboot drivers for the P35/ICH9 platform, but well, that's not very likely...

In short, I cannot help you, sorry.

I don't know which will be safer, but if you just want the SATA HD option, then use this one:

Thanks,

Be warned! ip35esata.bin bricked my IP35-E motherboard. I had to recover it using an external eprom programmer.

I think TheWiz should really remove those files before someone else bricks his board this way.. If you had read the whole thread before this wouldn't have happened to you though Tongue

You can find my working BIOS file on page 2 or 3.

You are right. I've missed those posts.

Sorry for the misleading links guys, they have been removed.

If anyone has issues recovering, they can send our chips to us for reprogramming at no cost for this mobo.

Just flashed my IP35-E with modded BIOS by ToxAtec and everything works as planned. On the first boot after flashing windows installed ahci drivers, reboot, and voila! Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller in device manager and AS SSD reports "msahci - OK" in glorious green font Big Grin. Thank you so much, guys.

One question though: is it ok that my cmos setup displays BIOS version as "...-00) B1"? Thought it should be 18 at the end.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Nice to hear there are still people out there finding the mod useful Smile

As to your question about the version info: My IP35-E has died a few months ago, so I cannot check this myself, but I'm pretty sure the BIOS is really that beta-18 one. You probably shouldn't worry about that string in your cmos setup.. it's working, isn't it? Tongue

Any chance for IP35P to get AHCI work?

Thanks..

I don't say there's no chance, but someone had asked before and noone was able to do this. I wouldn't wait for a mod to be made for that board, it seems to be harder than just changing the default value in the BIOS setup (because the option is completely missing).
