abit ip-35e bios unlock for ahci to work

Good news, it works now. I used modbin6-2.04.02 instead of 2.01.01 to change the default of "OnChip SATA Mode" to AHCI. The option is still not being displayed in the actual setup, but AHCI works, so I don't care Big Grin
Maybe it has something to do with this issue? http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/...2;t=000133
Or maybe It doesn't have anything to do with the modbin version and it was something different..
however thanks for your efforts.

I attached the modded BIOS; the only difference to the latest beta is that AHCI is enabled.

By the way, it is still a mystery to me that people had sucess with the first mod Tongue

Hi ToxAtec, hi all,

i have an IP35-E board. I bought an SSD and i recognized that the ip35-e doesnt support ahci. So i found your allegedly sollution with a bios mod. I am a bios flash noob so i have to ask. What i have to do? So i think i need your mod (ip35e-beta18-ahci.zip) an a flashing programm? Putting it on a bootable usb and flash it?
Can it damage the bios chip?

Thanks in advance for help.

hi guys,

i just bought a SSD drive and want to reinstall win7 on my sys.
therefore i would like to use it in AHCI mode on my IP35-E.

unfortunately the old download-link from ToxAtec does not work anymore.
could someone upload it for me again?
the link from CA50 works but noone confirmed if his BIOS works.
the one from ToxAtec seems to be solid so please be so kind as to help me get it.

thanks in advance!

sorry for doublepost - but the download link did work after all!

still there is one more question - do i use the same commands to flash as with the original firmware?
(/py /sn /cd /cp /cc /cks /R)

thank you. Smile

Hmm, I will just upload it again, here you go..

It's a 'solid' mod if you don't need to insert an SLIC table; I've had problems with that using awardtool or so.

Have fun!

edit: It didn't work for me as well until now..
Yes, you can flash it like an unmodified BIOS.

ok thank you!

before i try this out - do you know if i can still use my old windows installation when the drive switches to AHCI mode?
i'm asking because i won't reinstall win7 for a couple of days since i'm waiting for a new cpu...

I think that's not a problem if you are using windows vista/7 (not XP) right now. There are guides on the interwebs.. I think you just need to change a registry value before flashing the AHCI BIOS.
Look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 at "Let me fix it myself".
But you should probably have a closer look at other guides before you get a non-booting PC.. I may be talking nonsense Tongue

bios upgrade worked just fine, thank you again! Smile

did the reg update and windows runs too. how can i check if the drives are really running in AHCI now?

ok, it sais "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serieller-ATA-Controller" (german) under IDE ATA/ATAPI-Controller in my devices manager.
but when i select the seperate ata channels it sais "IDE Channel" for every single one.

is that normal? does it become AHCI when i reinstall windows?

I'm not sure but maybe CrystalDiskInfo can show you that. If NCQ is enabled, then AHCI must be enabled as well. NCQ doesn't work in IDE mode. But there should be a simpler proof, just google..
It should be AHCI anyway if you are using my BIOS..

edit: Did you install the drivers from the intel homepage? Try this link.

thanks for your help! Smile

looked in hd tune, NCQ is active for both SATA hard drives!

so that you again for the great bios. Smile
i'm looking forward to using the SSD now.

just one last question - the guy from the first post said his v18 bios is a beta version.
the v18 i have on my computer does not seem to be a beta, it was the last one that abit supported.

is there any way to compare the two BINs?
i uploaded my BIN here.

it would be great if you have a look.

You are right, those are not the same BIOSes:
Code:
$ md5sum m630a.bin M630A_18.BIN
8a86569ab61a38af7a60b8bd56400d7e m630a.bin
b359d6ff8879d2607c6aab0db90a50a7 M630A_18.BIN
I don't know the differences though.. but I'm quite sure I used the beta one (m630a.bin) for my mod.
Does this help?

yes thank you!

is it too much to ask to make the mod for my final v18 BIOS? Smile
