abit ip-35e bios unlock for ahci to work
#1
hi guys,

Abit IP35-e and IP35 are sharing same bios. The interesting part is IP35 has the option to set the SATA operating mode to ide/ahci/raid, meanwhile these options are made hidden for IP35-e. It would be great if there is a bios to unlock this option for my ip35-e, thus i can make use the advanced function of AHCI (hot swap hard drives etc).

I am using the latest 18beta bios, please see the attachment. Thanks in advance for any effortsSmile.

Here you are, I was able to do this as well as unlock some random OCing goodies.

I don't know which will be safer, but if you just want the SATA HD option, then use this one:

Thanks,
TheWiz

EDIT: Links removed, flash failure.

Hey TheWiz,

thanks i am going to play safe and test the ip35esata version. I will post some feed back once it's done. BTW, Does this bios support E0 CPUs?

I did not add the E0 stepping, nor any other microcode, although I could try. It won't make a difference which bios you use, as two people have confirmed the flash works.

bad news...the flash failed.

the computer went to a blank screen after flashing. Reboot and still a blank screen. Clean cmos by a hard reset, no result. Guess time for a new motherboard. sigh...

by the way,i used ip35esata.bin

Sorry to hear that, it looked like a clean mod Sad If you don't want to pay for a new board, just get a new 20 dollar chip from biosman.com with whatever bios you want preprogrammed.

Hi,

are there any special requirements for flashing the modded BIOS, like a certain version of awdflash? I tried awdflash-8.94, the one shipped with the official abit bios 18 (awdflash-8.83 or so) and, stupidly, at my first approach a much too old version.

All three gave the same result: Flash progress finishes OK, but after a reboot there is no video signal at all, no beeps. Nothing. Recovery methods don't work, too.
After buying a new preprogrammed (official bios v18) chip I'm now able to hot flash, so I could try any awdflash version and such.. But is there anything I might have done wrong, as there were reports of success?!

OC can be excluded as a reason. I used awdflash /py /sn /cc /cd /cp {/Wb,/Sb} . Maybe /cc etc are bad?

OK, rather than all of these switches, try just awdflash bios.bin, and let the program do the work.

I did another hotflash with 'awdflash mod.bin' this time, and again the only sign of life is the notorious double-boot (power on 2sec --> power off 2sec --> actually power on). No video signal again. Resetting the cmos doesn't help as well.
Any idea whats's wrong? :/

edit: the md5 checksum of the bios image on the floppy is correct.
edit2: I did a hotflash to the beta bios in the attachment of the first post, and this one works. Are you sure your mod is ok, as it is based on this beta bios? Might there be a problem with nvidia PCIe graphics cards and your mod? I use a geforce 8800gt and tried a geforce 6xxx as well.
