Here, program this in, and then check in BIOS and in windows system info or HWINFO etc and see if serial UUID etc now shows up properly
After this, you can put system back together, if any other BIOS flashes are needed we can do with FPT as this has unlocked FD

sadly we took a step backwards. I just flashed the new bios and now windows is showing as not activated. Sad

edit: after a few reboots, it's now showing as activated!

That's a weird one, maybe due to actual key being in there now vs default key? I'm not sure, I know there is a key stored in a few NVRAM databases, but NVRAM was same default stock sparse one between both of those BIOS, however there is a key in the padding file that contains the serial and all that info that's now in this last BIOS that was all blank in the first BIOS.

Does serial show in BIOS main page now, how about at windows system info or HWINFO64?

do you mean the product key? yes, I see it...it was there from the previous bios flash too, I think, but I never took note as to what it was at that time though.

the laptop is working fine though so we'll keep it that!

thanks again!

Yes, I wasn't there in previous, at least not in all areas where it is kept and polled from, it's in there now though.

Did you check serial, does it show up correctly now in BIOS Main page (if serial is shown there), or in windows System Info, or HWINFO64 etc?

Hi, I have the same problem (F556UA-AB54 aborted Win10 BIOS update).
1) ASUS tech support says there are X556UQK board inside my F556UA notebook. But in fact there is:
Motherboard: X556UV_MB REV.3.1
PN:60NB09S0-MB3100 (312) X556UAK 15314058
2) No one knows the "blind-flashing" keyboard combination, but probably no key pressing needed to stat...
3) No one can say the correct filename of BIOS firmware file. But correct filename is inside each firmware binary file! For me that is:
X556UAK.BIN (I found the same inside the X556UAK-AS.317)

Now I have some news:
1) FAT-formatted 1Gb USB Flash Disk with LED-indicator helps me to determine that the notebook trying to read X556UAK.BIN firmware file (LED short blink - 3 long blinks - 1 long blink). If there is no file - LED lights all the time (with a little interrupts in beginning of the boot)
2) Notebook Battery LED starts blinking white (1s_blink - 1s_pause - 1s blink - 3s pause): no matter is AC plugged or not, no matter is the battery plugged|charged or not (I have to open the cover and remove the battery). I fthere is no file on the flash disk - the battery LED did not blink.
