[REQUEST] Gericom Extreme - Adding RAM settings to bios
#11

Looks like SSOP-32 LPT chip. There are programmers which support this obsolete chip, but they are relatively pricy, such as Willem and this one

If you willing to try, go for it it. I think the position of modules doesnt matter as long as the first 3 not moved. There may be an issue with enough space for additional module, but you can try deleting the oprom for PXE boot.

That's for network booting right? I don't intend to use that so I can just delete that (or do I need to 0 fill it?). There's another "User Reserved" module which I'm not sure what that is for, the Alienware doesn't have this in its bios:

Would it also be possible to delete the OEM logo too? Since its storing 2 images and the bios has an option for "Quiet Boot: Disable" which basically just shows the AMI bootup screen instead.

I'll definitely order a programmer, I'm wondering if it might just check the IDs upon booting rather than reading the entire vbios, seems strange that it would since people might have updated their vbios on the card itself, although not officially recommended by manufacturers. Maybe its used as a recovery though if the vbios on the GPU itself has a problem.

Right. No need to 0 fill it.

It's possible.
There are also 3 small supplementary logos in UserDefined 31.

UserDefined 2E is PXE related.

Do you still have the vbios extracted from the GericomWith9700? For me MMtool lists it as 1002:4E50 which is the 9600 weirdly.

Yes, but it's 4E50. Don't know why I mentioned 4E45, although MMtool clearly shows the other id. I might have inserted 4E50 from the clipboard and didn't notice.

Ah okay no problem. Well I ordered one of those programmers before proceeding any further, I took a chance and deleted both of the "User Defined or Reserved" modules and its still booting fine and loads optimal defaults as expected.

In the meantime I'll download as many vbios's claiming to be for the 9700 as possible, hopefully one of them should work.
