If the Bios You find here is for your laptop then the Bios Mod prepared by Sovem
is for your laptop too as It is based on the Original file so It will work on your 4173-ry6 too !
Let me know

P.S. I don't know which are the differences between normal and 4173-ry6 model !

It does work for my T420s (model: 4173-ry6).
I guess it works for all the T420s with different models, maybe also T420si. In the Lenovo Bios Update page, it only says for T420s and T420si. They did not prepare it for different models.

Thanks a lot.

Regards.

Hello, everyone! My problem is when I try to update bios using flash.bat it does nothing, when I try to execute winutp or something (I'm on os x now, don't remember what it's named) manually it says no update is necessary. When I try to update bios using winflash it tells me to sellect a correct bios

BDMaster, could you please reupload the iso version?

Hi mate,
You have to use a LiveUSB Win7 and run anything x32 from It !
Try to find Hireen's CD or DLC.Boot.2015 or Hiren's Boot DVD 15.2 Restored Edition 1.1 (January 2013)
So for the future You will use to bypass any issue !
The CD version I lost and have to redo but I think will not work as cannot set overwrite flag to bypass
Protection !

Still, nothing changed. When I flash using winflash that comes in the archive I get "Cannot launch the UEFI Emulator", when I flash using another winflash downloaded from a separate site it says "Please select a correct bios image". I tried adding ForceUpdate=1 to winflash.ini. Can someone help me with this?

Hi mate,
You have to follow instructions included !
First get modifed folder and put it on your Pencard LiveUSB or on HD then Boot from USB !
So after Boot from LiveUSB Win7 then open a Command Prompt using Admin's rights
and get a CLI window like this :

C:\

Then locate the Bios Mod folder modified on your PenCard or on HD and execute these commands

cd modifed_path

flash.bat

Or use the command :

WINUPTP.EXE -s

Let me know
Regards

P.S. It's the only way to overwrite Bios Original !!!
