Hello,
It is my first post here. So I post because I need you help : in fact, I wanna do an upgrade of my laptop (Compaq CQ56-293sf, Celeron M 925) with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8800. When I put the new CPU in my laptop, no boot, black screen with Caps del flashing.
I flashed my BIOS with the last stock version proposed ( this one, the F.15 Insyde version) by HP but it isn't enough, same problem.
I think my problem is due to the brided BIOS from HP, I think a modded BIOS can solve my problem, so what do you think ?
Best regards.
NB : sorry, english isn't my native language.

Your motherboard is based on GL40 chipset. It supports FSB=667Mhz and FSB=800Mhz(unofficially), dut doesn't support FSB=1066Mhz. So you can't use P8800 in your laptop.
The best CPU for your laptop is T9500 or T9300.

Oh my, I read on the net it could be work with differents FSB, so it wasn't true
Are you sure for the T9300 ? I will buy ebay one of them if you are sure.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.
Edit : I will ask a stupid thing, but isn't it possible to overclock the FSB of the chipset ?

You can try to boot P8800 with BSEL mod and run it on 2 Ghz only with a performance of T8100. Forget about overclocking GL40.
Make BIOS backup by Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0 and I'll check CPU support.
Update:Your BIOS has microcode for CPUID=10676, version - 60F, date - 09/29/2010. So it supports T9500 and T9300.

OK, but I can't find the necessary photos/diagrams for the BSEL mod (too old topics).
I found an old laptop into my GF house, and the CPU must be able : T6670. So I will try it this week-end.
Isn't the best like T9300 or T9500, but it could be a free upgrade
Too bad for my P8800, I will try to sell it !
Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,i would like to upgrade my G56-110SL from a T4500 to a T9600 or T9800 or T8300,but since the Bios has a CPU Whitelist, this upgrade is not possible with a stock bios,is there a way to include one of those processors in the whitelist?Would also be awesome if the wifi cards whitelist could be removed!
Stock Bios: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52622.exe
I'm also attaching some screenshot from CPU-Z
Hope someone can help!Thanks everyone!

Chipset GL40 doesn't support FSB=1066Mhz. So you can't use T9600 & T9800.
T8100, T8300, T9300 and T9500 are recommended for upgrade.
Whitelist for wifi cards is offtopic here.
