[REQUEST] Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (76CNxxWW) Whitelist Removal
(03-13-2016, 03:55 AM)etomm Wrote: Hello, I have the same problem with the same bios. I tried to follow that guide, and I found where the string of the messages are loaded to ram, but is it safe to do it?

Do you have the passages that you did to mod it? I would like to do it myself, but I feel uncomfortable to change the bios by hand? If I will do an error? Will it boot again?

No, it's not safe at all. If you error, it likely will not boot again!
But if you're sure you've read enough and understand what's going on *and are happy with the possibility of bricking your laptop* :

1. Firstly, unhide the Advanced menu, follow post #83 here.
Use a Linux Live USB if you don't run linux natively.
Then reboot into BIOS and locate the setting that allows writing BIOS, and enable it. Can't remember the exact location, but it's not hard to find.

2. Then extract a backup of your bios using the tool I mentioned above. Don't take a shortcut by using someone elses that you've downloaded. It won't work - Brick time!

3. Using PhoenixTools, Open your BIOS backup file, which is 4096KB in size. Do not use the original Lenovo BIOS update file which is about 8196KB!
- Click OK when it prompts about "recovery filename KonaX64.f" and again for "Header... pubkey"
- And select manufacturer "Lenovo"
- At this point the BIOS has been extracted to a directory called DUMP in the same location as the original file, but in read only mode

4. We now need to configure PhoenixTool for "write" mode with the correct options - click the Advanced button at the bottom and click "I'm sure" and then....
- You need to "allow user modification", "always allow user modification", "allow user to modify other modules" and finally "No SLIC"
- Donovan6000's blog has the correct steps/ screenshots at http://donovan6000.blogspot.co.uk/2013/0...lists.html halfway down and specifically http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WWBmbTGkfvU/Ub...600/28.png
- When you've done that, click OK to get back to the main screen

5. Enable Write mode
- Click "Go"
- It will say "You can now make modifications........." but DONT press OK yet

6. Swap in the modified module
- The file in DUMP you need to overwrite is 11D378C2-B472-412F-AD87-1BE4CD8B33A6_1850.ROM
- The unwhitelisted modified version is here: http://rghost.net/6xgMjtYTL

7. Now you can click OK, and PhoenixTool will repack the bios, and the newly unwhitelisted version will have "_SLIC" in the name, at the same location as the original.

8. At this point, I'd recommend re-opening the _SLIC file, re-extract the ROM file, and comparing it to the downloaded version in HxD. Just to be sure.

All you need to do now is rename your file to "bios.bin", sleep/wake, and use fptw/fptw64 to flash.

Thank you so much your help!

Unfortunately  I made a noob mistake, I've lowered some of the voltage settings in advanced menus and now my computer won't boot into bios or anything really.

All it shows is a black screen, with backlight on. Turning the keyboard lights on off works though. I already tried various keyboard kombos and unplugging the bios battery but nothing works.

My only idea is to flash the bios chip with a clip on, but I have trouble locating it. I've attached a picture of the board where the bios battery is, are any of these chips the bios chip?

You can see the picture here: https://i.imgsafe.org/7af14dd.jpg

Thank y'all so much! <3

I`ve already installed the 76CN43WW, could you help me on whitelist removal?

I saw that you sent a mod version, but the file is not aveilable anymore. Sad

Thanks in advance!

I've recently done this for my Y2P on the same BIOS version, but it has to be done separately for every individual laptop - something to do with the integrated Windows key, amongst other things.

Download this tool, http://rghost.net/8zyvqH7sn, and use it to make a backup of your laptop's BIOS. It should be 4096KB in size.

Then zip it, upload it somewhere (rghost?) and post the link.

Same BIOS version for me. I made a backup with the tool

Hello guys.

I am new in this forum so I will explain shortly my problem which is not new it was already discussed in previous posts. I bought an Intel wifi 7260AC for my lenovo yoga pro 2 and it is not working. Actually i previously installed the latest drivers from Intel and Device Manager recognize the dual band wifi 7260 but doesn't let me to enable it. After the restart (which takes very very long and gives system error) the system will not boot so I have to recover the backup image.

I believe that is the same problem with the bios whitelist for my LYP2 (version 76CN31WW). Yesterday I read a lot of forums but the only one which gives enough information is yours. Also, I found on an online mag a review that speaks about a Lenovo Z570 and is talking about an upgrade of bios to  45CN38WW_NWL_ByCamiloml.exe which is downloaded from a link from your forum. I downloaded it, ot flashed it because I am not sure it is suitable for my LYP2 and saw that it has an exe utilitar winflash.exe which make the flash very smooth even for begginers like me Smile

Since I am not an experienced programmer I kindly ask you if I you know a version of bios for LYP2 (with whitelist removed) which I can download and install in my laptop.

I must say that i read all the 12 pages from this thread but I don't see a clear solved case for this problem on LYP2 whitelist bios upgrade to whitelist removal.

Thank you.

Regards.

Hello, guys!
This bios is moddable but bios chip is rewrite protected!
Set your laptop to suspended mode and wake up it after few seconds.
Then run this tool as Admin and upload results

Hello. Unfortunately the antivirus detected that the application is virused and desinfected so now it is not possible to run it (it say we don't have permision) even if it is runned as admin.

Can someone upload the 8MB .rom file for the spi programmer (so file saved from the programmer not the backup made in system, original or modded, same thing) because my bios is corrupted and pc won't start? I need it as fast as possible so i can reuse my y2p

Hi all,

I am also victim of lenovos whitelist. Could you give me a helping hand? Could you remove the whitelist of my bios?

A question, when the whitelist is removed can I use each M.2 Wifi card? Or only the intel 7260*?

I have uploaded 2 files to sendspace. I found 2 different tools in this thread so I used both of them, one was called TESTBACK and another one FPT_PASS.

Bios version 76CN43WW.
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

When this version is not supported I could go back to version 31.

Here are the files: Link -->  Bios backup

Thx a lot in advance!

Not knowing that anything could be wrong with updating your hardware, I bought the AC8260. Unfortunately this did not work and I found this forum.

I finally managed to get an backup of my bios:https://file.io/RaJNnx
Is there anyone who could help me out and get this great card working?

Kind regards I would really appreciate it.
