Fujitsu Primergy TX1310 M1 Essential edition
#1
Brand: Fujitsu Primergy TX1310 M1 Essential edition

Motherboard: D3219-B11

Current bios version installed: Ami V4.6.5.4 R1.7.0

Request: I wish to gain support for Xeon E3-12xx V3 processors with this motherboard.

Background:

It's cousin(D3219-A11 motherboard) has the needed support for these kind of Xeon processors.
If you compare the two, they are identical BESIDES 2 memory slots and 2 PCIe ports are gone.
They both have the exact same hardware onboard(as far as my investigation goes).
So this should be related to BIOS differences in my opinion.. but i will leave that to
the "Masters" on this forum(aka you all)

I would much appreciate If someone among you would have a "go" at this. Smile

Please tell sSpec of your Xeon.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with new CPU.

Xeon E3-1230 V3

sSpec: SR153

On boot:

Computer comes on, but never makes it to POST(monitor find's no signal).. and like this it sits.

UPDATE!

The E3-1230 V3 Xeon CPU don't have the "Intel graphics" support(it's non existent in these), but the
E3-1226 and E3-1246 DO!
This gave the explanation of no monitor signal.

SO..

I got myself an "Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 server card".. as they seem to be a good choice when trying to get a monitor signal
from "boards" that expects to get it from the cpu(as in this case).

To my very big surprise, i got  signal to the monitor, it found the cpu, and i was able to enter the BIOS.
I made sure that the "slot" containing the gfx card was fully chosen(a small matter of choosing "enabled constantly").
Saved the changes and tried a reboot.

I got right in to the "Windows 7 Professional" OS.   Huh
Checked informational things, did a performance test.. everything just fine Exclamation

Here are some information(from the BIOS):

Socket 0 cpu Information

Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1230 V3     @3.30GHz
CPU Signature                306c3
Microcode Patch             1c
Max CPU Speed              3300 MHz
Min CPU Speed               800MHz
Processor Cores             4
Intel HT Technology        Supported
Intel VT-x Technology     Supported
Intel SMX Technology     Supported

L1 Data Cache                32 kB x 4
L1 Code Cache                32 kB x 4
L2 Cache                        256 kB x 4
L3 Cache                        8192 kB

Questions:
1 - May it be that the latest BIOS patch(V1.7.0) HAS the right microcode update(1c)?
2 - Is there something i'm missing out on here?
3 - Bad propaganda from Fujitsu to start with?
4 - Any other/more information you want to see(for a full conclusion)?

SO.. Does this mean that the full support already is existent in this BIOS version(do it should not be)?

With best regards Donnarien. Smile
