This motherboard is based on 945G chipset without support of 45-nm CPU.
Core 2 Duo E6700 is the best CPU for this motherboard.

Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with new CPU.

Ohh sad, thanks for the reply. Core 2 Duo E6700 is the max support for my Mobo?

And I haven't yet got the new CPU. Planning to buy it haha

But can be CPU-Z wrong? And motherboard is based on 945GC and suitable VRM...
Only real test with 45-nm CPU (with FSB=1066 Mhz) can answer on this question.
E.g. Core 2 Duo E7x00

Yes you're right, my motherboard is based on 945GC and is 65nm technology. What happens if I put a 45nm processor in my motherboard? I don't care if the CPU doesn't run at its max speed, just want my mobo to support..

I think its too risky as Core 2 Duo E7x00 is 45nm but mine is 65nm. Anyways can you say if my current BIOS support Core 2 Duo E6600?
