Alienware M17x R3 Bios Unlock
#11
I have the BIOS you are using so I can check it out for you. What settings are you missing and how are you checking to see that they're really there and just not visible in the BIOS?

So, there is no issue with A12 unlocked then? See, that's why I asked for clarification, you said there was boot issues but then in reply after I asked for details you said no boot issues, and seems like it's working OK for you.

I sais I linked to the publically available Insyde tools, not that I uploaded them.
Here is that thread, easy for me to find, since it was my first post here Smile

I have no problem working on BIOS for you, and rather enjoy it actually! But, I'm always pressed for time, so it may not be fast work Big Grin

Here is a list of settings, which are you missing from the BIOS (Make a list, setting names only is all I need, then I can enable to be visible for you)

Or, if entire menus are missing, that would be easier to unlock than individual settings. But, I assumed that was already done?
Why is that F12 BIOS called unlocked, if the settings are not unlocked??? Makes no sense to me!

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for an A12 unlocked BIOS for the Alienware M17x R3 — one that unlocks all hidden menus (Advanced, Chipset, Power, etc.) but keeps Dell’s original SATA configuration (no SATA 6 Gb/s tweak).

Unfortunately, the version with the SATA fix gives me a persistent boot error:

“Attempt to read or write outside of disk ‘hd0’ – entering rescue mode.”

I’ve tried several clean installs of different Linux distributions on two separate SSDs (Crucial and Samsung Evo), but the issue remains. I’ve reverted to the stock A12 for now.

If anyone still has:

the A12 unlocked (no SATA mod) file,

please let me know or PM me a copy or mirror.

Much appreciated!
