[Request] Unlock / Mod Bios of a Supermicro X8DTT-F
#11
I've not heard of those PSU's, nor seen this as a motherboard option, but I don't deal with server BIOS or PSU often, so maybe it's possible in some other BIOS but not this one.

Modded BIOS By OEM caused bricks?? I doubt they would keep a file for download up if it was bricking boards, maybe method you use to flash is causing some issue? Or maybe no one told them yet, did you tell them via email?

Or, did you mean you modified it and then it bricked? If yes, that, then that's understandable, it happens sometimes Big Grin

Not all BIOS have all regions, so you can't use all those /switches sometimes. Use whatever is in the stock BIOS batch file and that should be OK.
Is that what you meant you did? If yes, are you using their AFUDOS? If yes, is it with a BIOS you modify you're trying to flash? if yes, that is normal, sometimes you can't flash mod BIOS with OEM Tools, or could also mean your mod BIOS is bad mod/broken BIOS etc.

- /R Preserve ALL SMBIOS structure during programming << This one should be OK always
- /K Program all non-critical blocks and ROM Holes.
- /L Program all ROM Holes.
- /Ln Program n'th ROM Hole only(n=0-15) << Your "/L2"
- /C - Destroy System CMOS << This one should be OK always

/K and /Lx should also be OK, since it's in stock command line, makes me think your mod broke BIOS probably (If you modified?)

Safest method to mod BIOS, since you have programmer, is to dump the BIOS for any machine you want to modify and then edit it, then program it back to that same machine (Only that machine, otherwise serial, UUID, LAN MAC etc will get transferred if you put on other machines)

In archive afudos.smc-> AMI Firmware Update Utility  v4.40, info:
/Ln - Load CMOS defaults: (n=0-3)
L0: Load current optimal
L1: Load current failsafe
L2: Load optimal from ROM file
L3: Load failsafe from ROM file

Thanks LLC, I didn't know it was different between different versions! So then, yes L2 should not cause you issue either, so must be bad BIOS mod, or you can't use their OEM version of AFUDOS For flashing mod BIOS (This can be normal/expected sometimes)
