MSI ps63 8sc firmware unlock (fans control)
#1
I’ve bought MSI ps63 8sc recently.

One of the key reasons why I’ve chosen it the fact the majority of reviewers stated that it is quiet under low load. As a particular, many people wrote that under low load (browsing/office) notebook is silent – something can be heard only if put an ear close to it.

However, I discovered that with my laptop this is not the case – without any load at all (=idle) fans are spinning around 2900-3100 RPM and produce loud sounds. It looks like the 2900-3000RPMs are set as minimum speeds at which fans start. I tried to play with custom profiles in MSI software and no matter how many percentage I put (10-20-30%) the fans always work at 2900-3000RPM minimum.

I’ve found several forum threads with owners of ps63. And several people in 2019 published screens of Creator Center where I can see the fan speeds around 1800-1900RPMs – so, this was possible.

But after that people are complaining that after they installed new firmware 16S1EMS1.105 fans became crazy and started to spin at around 3000RPM minimum (like in my case). Many people downgraded to 16S1EMS1.104 and again happy now.

But the problem is that ps63 has several ‘submodels’ – 8rd, 8sc etc. The firmwares 16S1EMS1.1xx is officially for MS-16S1 submodels. I have 16S2EMS1.102 preinstalled and this is for MS-16S2 submodels.

Obviously, my 16S2EMS1.102 is “new type” of firmware which doesn’t allow to fans to go below 2900-3000RPMs making notebook too loud.

Can somebody help me please with this issue? Is there a way to “unlock” firmware to directly modify parameters which are responsible for minimal RPMs of fans?
