I'd like to unlock advanced tab to make my laptop use discrete GPU as primary graphics card.

hp envy 15-j118eo |
BIOS: F22
https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp840...p84266.exe

i've already dumped my bios file and wanna patch it via EFI SHELL but im too stupid and don't know what variable to change to what value Sad if someone could help
Or maybe it will make out if I just edit values about these graphics?

0x5BA20 End {29 02}
0x5BA22 Setting: Primary Video Adaptor, Variable: 0x1A5 {05 A6 1B 02 1C 02 43 00 34 12 A5 01 00 10 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0x5BA48 Option: Auto, Value: 0x0 {09 0E 1A 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0x5BA56 Option: Int Graphics (IGD), Value: 0x1 (default) {09 0E 1D 02 10 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0x5BA64 Option: Ext Graphics (PEG), Value: 0x2 {09 0E 1E 02 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0x5BA72 End of Options {29 02}
0x5BA74 End If {29 02}

here i found this in my dump file. What command i have to write in EFI SHELL to make my APU be disabled or be not primary graphics? i want my discrete GPU to be primary

Access to changing variable values outside the BIOS (e.g. using EFI shell) is limited in HP notebooks.

You need to dump the BIOS using a SPI programmer. Here's how the modified BIOS is installed.

what about maybe some modded boot file like hackintosh? boot file which disables IGPU then boots windows

I had in mind "hackintosh" in which people are disabling IGPU via efi shell and booting windows, or disabling toasted GPU's. They're running commands in NVRAM "ex. nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00". and ofc its only one boot only but repeating this process every boot isn't a problem.
In the other hand this guy is trying to edit EFI FILES to change graphics card power management. It's theoretically possible to boot from modified efi file which have instuctions about disabled graphics cards. I really don't need permament solution. I can redoing card disabling process every boot. But just wanna make it work Sad

The only thing i wanna do is to make my secondary (discrete) graphics card stands as primary and make windows using it. Because right now there is only two options:
1. APU + GPU
2. APU
in both cases APU(DX11) is primary and prevents from launching APPS with DX12. (GPU have DX12). Wanna use discrete gpu to run DX12 app

Isn't this command disables dGPU, is it?
Anyway, entering this command follows the same execution principle as in other EFI shells, which is not allowed in your bios. Are you already convinced of this trying to change the variables?
