MSI pro z790-A WIFI Bios Edit
#1
I need to change the uuid of my MSI pro z790-A WI-FI. My OS is Windows 11 and bios is up to date.

I did all of these in order:
1) I disabled Secure Boot and Fast Boot
2) I disabled Windows' driver signature
3) I loaded AMIFLDRV64
4) I got AMIDEWINX64

Unfortunately I always get this error when I try to edit the record by using "AMIDEWINx64.EXE /SU auto"  from CMD as administrator:

Initializing the SMBIOS interface.  Please wait a moment......
Error: Fail to initialize SMBIOS.
d7 - Error: DMI Data write failed.

Can anyone help me?

I'm in the same situation as you, but I have not that motherboard

I need to update (correct) my machine name. It is wrong and some features as Steelseries keyboard customization or Msi Center features are unavailable.

There is some kind of new Smbios protection in 2022, 12 gen machines?

Please, help with "Fail to initialize SMBIOS" error!
d7 - Error: DMI Data write failed.

Any hint or clue?

I've tried to use amideefix64 from Lenovo bios flash tools too, followint this guide:
https://support.lenovo.com/fr/en/solutions/ht501039

Basically, find a thinkstation machine with your processor generation (12gen in my case). Go to support page, donwload bios flash utility. If you downloaded a file containing amideefix64.efi, thats the right file.
Unzip all to a fat32 formated pendrive (erase startup.nsh for security), disable secure boot in bios, and boot from pendrive > press immediatly "ESC" to avoid startup.nsh to execute (you don't need to worry about if you delete the file or didn't put on the pendrive).
Once with "Shell >" message waiting to you to put some comand, in my case I wrote:

amideefix64.efi /sp “name of my machine”

but everything I have is:

Initializing the SMBIOS interface. Please wait a moment......

ERR_DMI_READ_ONLY
e2 - Error: DMI Data write failed.

So, we end the same point for this new path.

So, there should be any way/tool/miracle to get that DMI-thing with write permissions. But I don't know about this issues (almost surprised to reach the point I've reached).

Somebody with knowledge enough in this forum?
