uCode update for Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D8830 (Socket 478)
#1
Hello, friends.

Been a long time since I last came here for help.

I'm trying to get Pentium 4 3.2 (SL7B8 in particular) running on this laptop.

Little bit about the laptop: it's based on 845PE chipset, which does support 800Mhz FSB.

Could any of you lend a hand, and help update some ucodes in the BIOS, if that's possible at all?
Not particularly skilled at this, apologies.

I've attached a BIOS file below (I think?), should be good for now.

To DeathBringer, I only just now realized I didn't make a thread in AMI section.

I have to expand a little, current CPU isn't the SL7B8 in question, but a different one.

Will post a picture, when client is available, he's even less tech savvy, somehow.

Doing the legwork for him, so to speak.

So make screenshots of CPU & Mainboard tabs of CPU-Z with current CPU.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with new CPU.

I can elaborate on the laptop behavior right now, it doesn't boot.

Sorry for the delay. Client is a heavy sleeper.

Give me a link to download the latest official BIOS.
Or make current BIOS dump, e.g. by afudos or Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0.

I tried to post an attachment, but nothing shows up.

Could try to rename the BIOS file, see if it passes some built-in check for attachments.
It was 1.08 originally, now .rom

Why would they use numerical notation for file extensions, though?

.rom   755IAC.rom (Size: 512 KB / Downloads: 1)

I think this system supports Northwood core only.
