Memory Issues with 4gb not been recongnized are due to the use of 32 bit Windows.

32 bit editions of windows can only see and use up to 3.25gb RAM. You have to install a 64-bit operating system to see and use all 4gb.

If your bios sees 4gb and Windows sees 3.25gb then this is completely normal

yes i know... but I have a 64-bit Windows 7 .. and specification of the chipset says it supports up to 4 gb, but says 4 gb memory ram, 3 usable .., had read that the bios had to enable memory remapping but i don't have this option in my bios .. any ideas?

thanks

I think there is some option for doing this in MSCONFIG also, but as for enabling it in toe BIOS it isnt possible. I'd also hold HP accountable on this one.

thanks for responding. yes, also try from msconfig, in boot advanced, activating maximum memory but that does not work .. do not understand what you mean by " I'd also hold HP accountable on this one " ,well thanks for being observant and help me...

Well if the HP documentation states that it supports 4GB of RAM and its not you should get a case manager at HP and see what they say. Also, have you tried something like a small linux boot OS to see if its getting all 4GB of RAM?
