I tried to download 1907 from ASUS website yesterday ..vut when I clicked on 1907 - I got 1905 version instead. I loaded that one anyway, it had been a year or so since I had updated the BIOS on my M3A78-T machine. I was trying to decide whether to get a new 880G board and some DDR3 RAM and a Phenom 2 CPU .. or just getting a new CPU and use this board and DDR2. I was looking at the 965 or the X3 740 or the 1055T.

Anyone else able to download the 1907 BIOS? Any recommendations on the upgrade?

Thanks

1907 isn't ready yet, so it's normal that you got 1905 instead.

About the upgrade - I'd say it's still not worth investing in a new mobo and memory. It'd definitely be a better choice if you're building a new rig, though. I for example have recently bought myself a Athlon II X2 445 rev. C3, which luckily enough happened to have a stable working fourth core. Unfortunately, due to the nature of my current job, there's no time for overclocking... Sad

Right now I have a Phenom 9950 Quad Core - 2.6 Ghz - I have OC'ed to 3.1 Gh ... it is sort of warm 41-> 44 degrees but that isn't so bad.

Looking at the some fun charts from CPU World Site the Phenom 2 - 965 Quad core might be up to ~ 25% faster in games (Doom Hi Level) and interesting enough the X3 740 is nearly as fast as the 965 and OC'able and unlockable too .. and is relatively cheap as well.

You do know that not every X3's fourth core can be unlocked, right?

Oh yeah ... it's a crap shoot whether you can that extra core enabled or not .. and then that core could be unstable.

A couple of days I flashed the new BIOS.
No problems. All personalized BIOS settings (SATA mode, base clock, multipliers, etc..) were preserved, a clear indication that this version features only a CPU list update...
