HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle3) 5.17 With Unlocked Overclocking Options
#81
Now you're tempting me Big Grin I'd have to do a lot more research into it and talk with some BIOS buddies of mine but I haven't tried to crack this egg yet. But with memory remapping options and stuff it is possible. Have you seen any MCP61s taht can do more than 8gb?

I'm glad you asked that!

Look at this page:

http://drivers.top4download.com/msi-nf52...svddr.html

it says maximum memory is 16GB

Compaq Presario SR5110NX w/ a Nettle3 Mobo Phenom X4 9500 8GB RAM 512Mb GeForce 8400GS Windows 7 64 bit (zoom zoom)

The MCP61P did support the 16Gb?! Hmm, I gotta have a look on my MCP61PM-AM again to understand the difference... Wink

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

I am back in here as I promised! Big Grin So tell me your needs!

And, of course the next logical question is, can the 1000 BaseT support be enabled? We all know the chipset supports it but for some reason the OEM's decided to stick with 100 BaseT. I would really love to free up the PCI slot that currently holds my gigabit network card.

(aren't I just full of things for other people to do?)

Hmm the BaseT is an interesting question. I am pretty much married to my Intel Pro 1000GT so i'd never go back, but id have to do some more research.

In regards to that link you posted, even though its an MCP61 I find it hard to believe it is so because it says the chipset is an NF520, while this board is an NF430.

OK, I didn't see that.

But maybe you can help me sort out the verbage on this mobo:

ECS MCP61M-M3 Geforce 6150 NF430 Socket AM3 DDR3 1333 mATX Motherboard

MEMORY Dual-channel DDR3 memory architecture
2 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM socket support up to 16GB per one DIMM support 8GB
Support DDR3 1333/1066/800 SDRAM
*(Due to the DRAM maximum size is 2GB at present, the memory maximum size we have tested is 4GB)
Due to the operating system limitation, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the reservation for system usage under Windows?32-bit OS.
For Windows?64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU, there is no such limitation

I did however get a taste of MrTangoWhiskey was talking about. My PowerEdge 2850 Server has six memory slots, each slot will hold up to a 4GB memory module but the maximum memory available is only 16GB. That seems kind of small to me to be spread across two dual core Xeon 2.6GHz processors but I did try it and it tells me 16GB.

Any news on a modified Nettle 3 BIOS? I'd really love to try overclocking this thing and see what it will do.
