m70vn Core 2 duo to Quad core
#21
how do you overclocked it? setfsb doens't worked for me

(03-13-2011, 08:42 AM)0n1s4c Wrote: I bought recently an Intel C2D T9900 (slighty OC to 3,2 Ghz) and plugged it in my M70Vn: that works very well!

Here is the results:

I do nothin' at all, but sometimes it seems to be OC by itself - sometimes, not all the time
original frequency is 3,06 Ghz

but look:

http://img2.uplood.fr/free/n7pg_t9900.jpg

CPU clock is 3,2 Ghz

i opened my m70vn and found the pll number but setfsb and other programm doesn't work, i read that some laptops have a security function that doens't allow you to overclock, so do you maybe know a tool with that i can edit my bios? i just want to look if i can turn ne security function off.

look at here:
http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/...2;t=000125

and the whole forum:
http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/...aysPrune=0

you can use AMIBCP or MMTool - these tools are dedicated for AMI Bios
http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/...2;t=000012
http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/...2;t=000098

I'm not sure there is a security function that locks the OC for the M70Vn (my T9900 is OCed, and I haven't changed nothing!)

Edit 1 : i download the bios from the asus page but it seems that the file isn't a rom file so the programm can't open them,

you just have to rename it with .rom extension

that's all

Edit : Ah i forgot to ask, did you patch the bios with the microcode for the q9100?

No, it's useless.
CPU Microcode patches are only usefull for correcting some bugs & problems detected by manufacturers who have tested new CPUs not yet distributed to final users (refer to Intel ES CPUs), before their mass production: so, they are "fully" compatible for a particular hardware (like mobos).
CPU Microcode Patches' goal is not to add support for CPU.
