Adaptec RAID 5805 / 5085
#1
I have an Retail Adaptec SAS RAID 5805 that supports the ability to power off unused HDD's

I also have an OEM SAS RAID 5085 how ever the Funtion to do so with this card is Disabled and no way to force Adaptecs Bios onto it from what i can tell

the card is Rebadged as an Sun STK Raid EXT

Does any one know of a Solution for this >?

If only it was the other way around it would not have been a problem but I need the External card to support power off functions or else I have 100 HDD's Running 24 /7

will gladly pay for a reasonable solution

You might want to check the 2CPU forums for this. They're pretty experienced with RAID card stuff.

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

thanks for that never heard of them before

I ended up selling that raid card and decided to build an ZFS Raidz system just keeping the 5805 now for windows to use

Nice. I'd take RAID-Z over any RAID card any day (if I could spare having to have an OpenSolaris/FreeBSD installation to handle storage, anyway)
