Help: Non White List" HP dv7t Quad Edition BIOS
#1
Camilo,

*EDIT* HP finally posted my BIOS and I updated the link below to the BIOS.

I want to have a "Non White List" HP dv7t Quad Edition BIOS to be able to install an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WiFi card. Can you help me? I would be most grateful.

Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 Quad Edition
Bios revision: F.12
Bios Type: Insyde
Bios Download Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55375.exe

Thank you again for your time.

Is there another BIOS I can use instead of the Insyde F.12? F.xx?

Just curious as I'm trying to learn, why is it not possible? Is it because it is RSA signed?

Thank you for your time and consideration...

It's not possible because there's no original bios updater to mod.

Thank you for your quick replies!

I will make it my personal priority to see to it that you get what you need to help me. I will somehow get an original F.12 BIOS for you to look at. Wink

Thank you again... Smile

Camilo,

Would sp54024_NWL_ByCamilml.exe found in http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Re...telist-RSA work in my dv7tqe-6c00? sp54024 was originally for a dv7tqe-6100. F.1A or F.1B I think was the BIOS rev. What is the difference between the dv7tqe-6c00 and the dv7tqe-6100?

He was successful in using the same card I want to use (Intel Advanced-N 6230).

Thanks...

Camilo,

I found this website that has many different BIOS for HP notebooks.

On the website I found my HP Notebook model number (dv7-6c00) and found my Insyde BIOS version F.12 shown below.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55377.exe

My question is this. I have an Intel i7 processor but this BIOS description (CVA, HTML) says it is for an AMD processor. Could the two BIOS (F.02 and F.12) on the website be backwards? Can you tell by looking at the BIOS if it is actually an AMD BIOS like the listing says? If the F.12 BIOS is in fact an Intel BIOS, that is the one I need to have the WiFi White List removed from because that is what my dv7tqe shows as the current BIOS (F.12).

Thank you again for your time.

I have an intel processor in my dv7-6100 and the bios worked. You have to rename or delete the HP recovery partition first. But I did have one problem, the bios settings are set to their defaults. The fan is set to always on and virtualization is disabled When you try to change the settings the laptop bricks and you have to recover the bios. So look out Smile

What modded BIOS did you try? I have the dv7-6c00 and you have the dv7-6100, are they the same?

I'm willing to wait for the correct BIOS to be modded and hopefully it won't have the few bugs you are seeing.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
