evga 780i 1st pci-e 16x slot has gone bad.
#1
First off i really hope i didn't post this in the wrong place. I was referred here via this thread on the evga forum.

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=138...+2nd+pci-e

The primary pci-e slot on my evga 780i has gone bad. I was wondering if you could make a custom BIOS for my board that allows for use of the 2nd one instead. Like the poster in the thread below , I also be willing to donate to you guys for the help.

The guy who sent me to your site also didn't know if this was something you still did or would do. So if i am asking something you don't do anymore i am very sorry. I am at my wits end here. I am out of warranty on my board and the next place it goes if i can't get it fixed is a land field.

Hey bro, Im sorry to hear that you are/were? Going through the same Ship as myself and countless others. This is a very big issue with EVGA, And this mobo in particular. I would love to get a class action against them, but thats a whole different story. I late responded for one reason. To ask you this, before you ruled everything out, did you check the board for any "loose/wiggly/movable/busted/poorly seated capacitors?
I have been reading in places other than the mainstream "know it all~most" forums and noticed since , well, forever busted capacitors ahve been the mystery cause to all sorts of system woes. My board has 2 wiggly caps. One a bit above the 1st PICe slot and under and to the left of the MCP (or what ever the [censored] its called) with the fan on it. The other is behind the rear panel input/outputs. That alone is enough to do just what Im getting. Fail to successfully install and boot up an OS. And random BSOD's. And either being a GPU mass murderer, or just not having enough juice to turn them on any more . All cept my dead/dying 8800gts. At the moment Im on a live CD/OS and still hard in the overclock. 4.025GHZ stock cooling, 1425MHz FSB . So that alone lets me know this mo has more in store for me than a lil cap holding me back. Im gonna bust out my 60watt Soldering Iron and some nice calming tea and some thing like some ambient start shop Enterprise engine noise, and give it a go.
good luck to you
Big Grin
