Asus Rampage III Extreme ZioMod Bios (Latest: 1601_S17)
(05-09-2013, 10:10 AM)sinders Wrote: If you are only using a Single SSD than you probably
would be best to use the Marvell 6G Controller.

I'll give it a try and run new benchies. thx for the quick reply.

Should I update the Marvell Fw?

I read as per this thread that three things need updated but I only know how to update the actual BIOS (now 1601). How do I update the Marvell?

Thx.

use this Intel RAIDFix application below to prepare windows for RAID mode.

You just need to put your Bios back on AHCI mode and then load up windows and
then use this application to automatically configure the windows registry for RAID
mode then reboot your system and go back into the Bios and set back on RAID mode
and then windows should hopefully load up without any blue screens etc.

Thanks for the tip, sinders Big Grin
I tested it but the tool doesnt work in Win8x64.
But I kept it for our Win7-systems in our office Idea

The Intel RAIDFix application definitely works because I have used it myself on my Windows 7.

Perhaps someone will post down what windows registry changes to make in order to
make a non RAID Windows 8 install work in RAID mode.

I would appreciate that, too Smile

I found out, that next month Adaptec has a new controller, the 6405H.
It has PCIe-x4 (!) not only PCIe-x1 with resulting 5GB bandwith like that crappy Marvell on our mobo.
I just asked them if it will support TRIM and will post it here if it does.

Hi

So i updated to 1601_S10.

ZioGTS advised to install latest RTS and marvell drivers, so i did that.

My current SATA ACHI driver version is 12.6.0.1033 after update.
and my Chipset is 9.1.9.1003

my Sata controller is now called "IntelĀ® Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset Sata ACHI Controller"?

is this the latest version of drivers or is there a newer?

AWESOME work guys!

Try this as it worked great for me regarding switching to RAID after WIN 8 installation.

Thanks very much for posting. Smile

This information will come in very handy for those on Windows 8
and want to switch to RAID without having to reinstall windows.

Just double-click it in the device-manager and then choose driver. The installed version is shown then in the details.

@Sabresquad:
I have the newest driver installed in AHCI-mode (12.6.0.1033). You dont have a raid, too. So did Your already run some benchmarks to see if Raid-mode on non Raid-SSDs is faster than AHCI? Or do You just lose a few seconds while booting (in post-screen)?

You have Your 980X on 4.4 GHz with the same cooler I that I use. What are Your settings? I have 4.01 prime-stable with 1914 MHz-memory speed.
Thanks for posting the settings.
