[REQUEST] Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p & Y510p (74CNxxWW) Whitelist Removal
#1
I've just bought the Lenovo y510p and to my horror i find out that it has the intel centrino wifi nic. The exact same thing happened to me last time with my last samsung laptop. I have a killer wifi nic and i would really like to install it, but then i see that there are some sort of whitelist in the bios of all Lenovo's. I would be so greatful if someone could post a little guide to handle my laptop.

cheers

Ok. I managed to extract my bios with Universal bios backup toolkit. But i read here http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/...s-mod.html that the rom contains my windows key. Is there any other way to submit my rom to you ?

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p
-Motherboard Product: VIQY0Y1
-Bios Revision : 74CN41WW (V2.07)
-Bios Date : 08/22/2013
-Bios Type : InsydeH2O
-Bios Link : https://www.mediafire.com/?co89459bx2tjk3y
-RW-everything Report : https://www.mediafire.com/?52wgyv9z3qv76d0

My request:
Whitelist removal and if possible, Unlock advanced menu if any (to be able to select switch main GPU) and VBIOS tweak.

PS: I'm not able to download the modded BIOS from this forum thread and try myself :
http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/...s-mod.html
but looks very interesting!

Also, there is some more interesting information here :
http://ideapad.zol.com.cn/56/160_552088.html
regarding the ability to support other monitors (if you want to change it a LED monitor for example) or updating the vbios, etc. Remember to use Chrome or manually translate it

Thanks!

I'm curious if I can piggyback off this request. I have a 3.05 BIOS for the Lenovo Y510P that doesn't have a hardcoded Windows key. The problem is, the whitelist is preventing me from installing a wireless AC card to go with my router.

I tried using InsydeH2O to patch the whitelist entry myself, but when I try to flash the modified BIOS with fptw64, I get "Error 280: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space!" Tried enabling/disabling BIOS Flashback in the BIOS without success.

So far, unable to find any other utilities to flash it. Help?

EDIT: Rumor has it, the 3.05 version of the Lenovo BIOS has all sorts of protection against such things.

I could upload the BIOS file if you wanted to look at it (and if I knew where to upload it to), but it sounds like it might be a fruitless effort, judging by the conversation at the techinferno forums. Sad
